I think it's probably getting a lot of laughs, because it's funny to watch someone with lots of public speaking experience flub something so horribly.
Plus, most humor is a little on the mean side.
The only thing that will elicit a laugh from anyone, in any culture is someone falling flat on their face. Now to the person falling flat on their face, that could have been painful or it could have been equally funny like whoops, I lost control of my limbs ha ha.
For instance, once, when drunk, I fell down some stairs, at first no one laughed because they weren't sure if I was injured, then I started giggling like a madman because I found it so hilarious that I had fallen down a flight of stairs and wasn't hurt, they felt free to join in the giggle fest and they still trot that story out years later as one of the funniest things they've ever seen.
I don't see a young woman with lots of practice speaking in public totally becoming tounge tied any different.
I think it's also why that news reporter also gets giggled at and there is a Soup clip of a non-white reporter saying Good Morning, Good Morning, everyone, Good Morning repeatedly live on air as a test pretty damn funny too.
So no, I don't think we are pointing and laughing because she's a pretty blonde, I think we are pointing and laughing becuase it's funny to watch people fuck up.
As for equality, I think we need male beauty pagents, why should women get money and scholarships for being pretty and blessed with a great body and not men! I want to see some hot dudes in bananna hammocks answering questions with answers like for the children and world peace!
