Only in America...

...would imprisoning a 13-year-old for a YEAR be celebrated as a lenient response to acting like a typical 13-year-old idiot.

This country has lost its fucking mind.

You can breathe more freely now, Diffy Queue

All charges have been dropped against the boys. They have agreed to pay each of the four girls $250 and have apologized to them. They must also take part in "boundary training."

Cooler minds prevailed, in the end.

Obama Girl

It's called satire. If he's not able to deal with something as benign as this I don't know why he's bothering to run. He should ask Hillary how she explained the truly hateful whitehouse.com site to Chelsea if he wants to see what awaits whichever Democrat wins the Whitehouse.

I hadn't seen the "Obama Girl" video before this, but it's actually a very funny piece, cleverly done, and obviously menat affectionately.

Dependent clause?

"Though the study's lead researcher cautions (so commendably) against drawing conclusions before the findings are backed up by other research."

That's not a complete sentence right? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks.

Correct

That doesn't look like a complete sentence. Well done.

Also, who knew that cable TV could have a contraceptive function? It's not all bad.

The old "if s/he can't deal with this" fallacy

Obama can deal with this and did, edgore. Just not in the ostrich-like manner you'd prefer.

Eh

Who lets his or her six year old daughter browse YouTube (or the Internet in general) unattended?

EconCCX

If his response to an completely innocuous joke is to whine that people should think about his children and his family, then he should not be president. We have already seen over the last six years that thin-skinned whiners with no sense of humor get us into trouble.

I don't want him to put his head in the sand, I want him to respond with something relatively sane like "While I thought it was pretty funny, I had to explain to my daughter that the pretty lady just really, really wants daddy to be president". That guy I would vote for; the guy that thinks we should rethink parody because of "the children" not so much.

Diffy

brings up a great point which is why is it that typical stupid kid behavior is being punished AT ALL?

tell him no, don't do it, and leave it at that.

I never hear of women being told to pay men money after the women have wronged the men.

It is a feminist driven JIHAD against men and against male sexuality is all.

Those pooooor sorrrry girls who were actually touched. awwwwww.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 10:35 AM

A feminist JIHAD?

Christ, Brightstar, take a breath.

I would rather the kids were tied to poles and shot

And America could shudder with the orgasm of its own insanity. Seriously. A year? Make it 10. And make sure they're sodomized every day. And when they get out, castrate them.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 10:49 AM

No - it's just that women feel it's their obligation

To go on and on and on and on and on about how it's your fault they're miserable is all. If they stay bottled up they wouldn't be able to correct you constantly and make you a better person.

women who self-silenced were four times more likely to die than women who expressed themselves freely

I guess that might explain why I have never met one.
