"Oprah" talk radio. Radio networks directed towards women as a primary demographic will not succeed, ever. Why all the handwringing. Next.
"...network targeting women with female-oriented talk programming in a male-dominated industry is even tougher."
OMG Patriarchy! Men NEVER fail in business ventures!
Absolutely pathetic. A woman's every failure is because of men but her successes are because of her own efforts.
Maybe they just had a lousy idea for a business? Nah, that couldn't be it.
I was stoked about Air America when it came out, and I loved Al Franken's show. Unfortunately, I learned that I just don't like talk radio. I used to think it was just all the right-wing opinions I hated, but no, it's the format. Franken's show was great because he usually had calm, smart discussions with a series of guests, not a stream of unending rants punctuated by periodic calls from REALLY EXCITED people who either parrot or berate the host.
The other shows I had time to listen to just followed the regular talk radio format. Blech. This is also why I don't watch a lot of TV "news."
I don't know that this aversion applies to women overall, but I know I don't like the hot air.
Linney,
Where in the article did the author blame "men" or the "patriarchy" for the failure of GreenStone, or even cite to someone who blamed "men" or the "patriarchy" for the failure of GreenStone? I didn't read the article to be blaming anyone and would genuinely like to know how you extrapolated that from the article.
Best,
Kate
