DanT - Di d you ever think that maybe
it might be a self-LESS act for some people to not have children? If someone recognizes that s/he would not be a good parent, then isn't it better for her/him to not have a child? Not all the reasons would be "because I ams too self-absorbed." Some of the reasons may include lack of financial stability, lack of a reliable partner, or poor health of one or both potential parents. Simply assuming people who choose not to have children are selfish is a bit simplistic.
