Sex ed suppressed in India

The federal government pushes for sex ed while conservatives oppose it.

Pot, Kettle, both made of something Iron-y.

For those of you feeling a little irony deficient today, check this out: India, the same country that gave birth to the Kama Sutra, is acting highly squeamish about the idea of sex education

One could just as easily refer to 'America, the same country that gave birth to Playboy, ...' and follow it up with 'Christians, whose holy scripture includes the Song of Solomon', before making the same comments about abstinence-only sex scare-tactics taking the place of sex education in American schools.

Here is a list of the teacher 'sexpidemic' cases WND has documented where female teachers have been accused, or convicted, of assaulting students:

Adrianne Hockett: Accused of having sex with a 16-year-old special-needs student in a Houston apartment she rented for the get-togethers. The boy has testified the pair would "have sex, drink beer and smoke weed."

Allenna Ward

Allenna Ward, 24: Minister's daughter from Laurens County, S.C., was a second-year teacher at Bell Street Middle School in Clinton, S.C., when she was fired Feb. 28, 2007, for allegedly having sex with at least five boys. Some of the purported victims, ages 14 and 15, were students at Ward's school. Authorities say the married woman had sex with the boys not only on campus, but also at a motel, in a park and behind a restaurant.

Amber Jennings, 31: Though Jennings was initially charged with having sex with a 16-year-old, the counts against the Sturbridge, Mass., woman were reduced to a single charge of disseminating harmful materials to a minor. She reportedly admitted e-mailing naked photos of herself to a former student. She received no jail time, only two years of probation after pleading guilty in September 2005.

I have to say, some of these TILFs are pretty damned hot. But they are rapists. I wonder how many of them identify with feminism, or positive sex, third wave feminism at that?

I wonder, can women be rapists?

We Are Closer To Indian Culture Than We Know

Pre-historians will tell you that Indian culture comes from the same four-millenia-plus-ago Indo-European ancestors who brought us western European culture. Those Indo-European ever-so-great granddads gave us all a prudish/sexist outlook, and that outlook persists.

We ourselves understand this aspect of Indian culture, intuitively, in our bones, because we grew up with the same outlook. So do not asume you are dealing with something alienly south Asian when you find out about these things.

They are just exactly like what we grew up with. My Irish Grandma and my Dutch Grandpa were much nicer than these Indian prudes, but, in their hearts, they felt much the same.
