Think again. A study challenges the stereotype of male-female verbal habits.
  • A seriously biased sample

    Choosing a college campus context for the research would likely mean that the sample pooled more verbally oriented people than is normative for the population.

    Without selecting more representative ratios for variables relating to socio-economic status, IQ, and work role the college sample just tells you that tertiary educated males talk at similar levels to tertiary educated females. Given that just being enrolled in college courses requires one to participate verbally I would wonder how much the gender variable is actually being measured at all.
