pretty twisted that anyone would object to this
When it's standard practice for barely-pubescent boys with cancer to give semen samples for later use.
-
conservatives should be HAPPY, they can use this to counteract the effects
of ADULT females only being interested in wild sex lives.

Who cares about my daughter's pain, I want grandchildren!
I'm guessing that since these boys you mention are "barely" pubescent it didn't require surgery to get the semen samples. I think the ethics of doing a completely elective invasive procedure on a five year old are trickier.

A Kettle Of Worms
Wow. Don't forget that those mothers who had their babies late in life and are going through menopause while the kid's going through chemo can use those eggs themselves. It'd make that scene in "Chinatown" sound like a nursery rhyme.

The kinds of genes that give a kid cancer at age 5
Are exactly the kind that we should be artificially preserving and passing on into the population.
Hooray for progress.

poor kids...
my first reaction: That's pretty cool that doctors can do that. Might allow someone to be a mom when she couldn't otherwise.
Second reaction: ...and why do we assume any of these kids want to be [biological] mothers someday? They're children, not potential-future-baby-makers. It's wonderful that an adult woman who has to undergo chemotherapy might be able to bear children later -- if she wants to. No five-year-old should have to undergo surgery so that she could someday become a biological mother, rather than a wonderful adoptive parent, a loving aunt or, god forbid, happily childless. There's so much that a sick kid should be able to look forward to besides having babies she doesn't even know she wants yet...
