Aren't you going to link to the LA Times article?
The one where the LA Times reporters look through county jail records for females convicted of probation violation on a DUI, and find that in 2007 most of them are sent home with an ankle bracelet as soon as they report to the jail?
You people were eager to capitalize on this story last week when it looked obvious that she was getting off easy just because she was a celebrity.
How convenient that Salon editors suddenly have a religious conversion and become too high-minded to cover Paris Hilton just as the actual facts come in.
I guess if you only care about pop culture, then it doesn't really matter if Paris is doing 23 days in solitary for no real reason.

Proving nothing. If anything, the story should be why can't California actually carry out its sentences any more... A serious issue.

She's doing the time to which she was convicted and sentenced. The sentence specifically excluded home confinement.

Um, Paris defenders
She's not in jail for her DUI exactly. She's there for violating her probabation. Repeatedly. After a judge told her to stop. She showed up late for her last court appearance. After he called her back during home arrest, she tried to phone it in, literally, because she was too busy planning a party.
Her punishment is probably comparable to any other knucklehead, who after squandering chance after chance, extended leniency over and over again, gives a judge no other choice but to lock them up.
Paris and Scooter are learning, whatever you do, when you are in the justice system: DON'T PISS OFF THE JUDGE!

So basically
anyone who's needed to have a compassionate yet rational discussion with a young woman is more likely to support her right to reproductive freedom. It brings a tear to my eye that we even have to discuss and analyze that.

My wife and I will be giving our baby (due in december) a combination surname (1/2 hers, 1/2 mine). After all, we don't believe in supporting the patriarchy, so... 50/50!

Why is it illegal anyway? If someone wants to have sex with a whore, it is their right. If someone wants to have sex for money, that is their right. Since when can we govern morality?

I could not possibly point to better evidence that the so-called "feminism" on Broadsheet is, for the most part, a sham. As I've said before, there's way too much nastiness and backbiting here for me to believe that you people are actually feminists. You're just using the label as an excuse to pick and choose among the behaviors and situations that YOU approve of.
