  • Good thing she didn't post a picture

of herself as a nappy headed ho - then you'd be calling for her head!

  • Much ado about nothing

Read the actual lawsuit on smoking gun. One of the claims is that the high school told the college that if the teacher wasn't punished severely the high school would not take any more student teachers from the college. The college is state owned and part of the UP system.

By the way in case you missed it the college nick is "Pirates". I am willing to bet that 75% of her students have "my space" pages. I have a feeling that some influential nut ball parent saw the page and complained to the school board and this is what happened. For those of you that think that it's bad judgment to direct kids to her page I would ask you if it would be proper to punish parents if their children see them drinking. Or are you suggesting that teachers have transplanted parents as roll models?

Please read the suit, it's pretty complete. I know there are two sides to every story but it's probable the school is going to regret their actions.

This just in!! Anyway according to the local Lancaster paper the would be teacher is being deluged by the media and has been interviewed on local radio.

  • Much ado, indeed

People do have to be careful and thoughtful about what they post online. That goes even for this letters section.

That said, the school's reaction is way overboard and just fails the common-sense test. Especially since the school mascot is a pirate.

If this student had dressed up as a vampire for Halloween and posted a pic of herself with fake vampire teeth, would that be interpreted as an endorsement of blood-drinking?
