Death threats dog female blogger

Evidence of rampant misogyny, or the price of doing business in the blogosphere?

I am be a chick, but I know what's going on.

Before I went to law school, I was in computer science, surrounded by these asberger's geeks and the like. So i know what these pathetic computer geeks are like, with their delusions of not even grandeur, but simply traditional malehood.

Also, there's something wrong with your logic. If by virture of being a chick, i would not be exposed to this world of male insults (presumably making threats to each other), how come Sierra, who is also a chick, was exposed to it? Whoever was threatening her crossed your gender line of threats.

You seem to embody this -- you are talking tough... er, anonymously. on the message board. of a feminist blog.

You're the big man now, you are. Hilarious.

Man

Women are no more or less "brave" than are men.

My mother drove a double decker London bus through the Blitz, dodging bomb craters and listening to Buzz Bombs and V2s going off all around her.

She also wouldn't go to the bomb shelter in the Tube station at night. She said that if the Jerrys were going to kill her, they were going to do it in her own bed.

My daughter was pregnant and living on base at Camp Pendleton while my son in law was in the Marines. They had a paper route to help make ends meet since they already had one child. One morning before daylight, my daughter was out delivering papers and saw a man running toward her in the darkness. The guy came really close to my daughter and she ended up decking him and breaking his nose with a single punch. Turns out the guy was a Recon Marine (like special forces) out on his morning run. She felt immediately sorry for the guy and was telling him so.. All he wanted was for her not to tell anyone that a pregnant woman took him out with a single punch.. :)

There's an old adage about if you are ever captured *don't* let them give you to the women. You'd be better off biting your own tongue off and drowning in your own blood.

Jennifer

Men are so easily controlled and manipulated it's hilarious. All I have to do to get a man to do what I want is smile, it's pathetic.

Not every man is so easy to control. It's amazing how many truly beautiful women I have seen in thrall to some jerk or other.

Agreed though that most men are a sucker for a pretty woman.

Smile at me, Jennifer,

and I would ignore you, for the same reason that marriage is overrated. Too many fish in the sea to chose from. Those games are so high school. Only works on men who haven't been laid in years or who think every time they get a blowjob it's christmas.

Ben Dover, yes you would ignore me, because you're a wimpering coward...

...who can probably barely make eye contact with the female sex in real life. The only reason men like you hate woman is because they know they have no chance with any of them and it's pretty obvious that one of us did a serious number on you at some point. It's apparent that you've been screwed over by one of us in the past which is why you're so bitter and angry and quite obviously...lonely.

Look man, if I was as emotionally hideous (and probably physically too judging from your demeanor)as you are, I would probably want a group of people to take my aggression out on too. Maybe if you got a pet or something you wouldn't be so miserable. :)

geek boys

Please stop bashing all the geek boys, a lot of them are great people. I've never felt that the field was dominated by sexist pigs. It more that since women are underrepresented in the industry a woman will more likely experience multiple instances of harassment. If there were a lot more women, the harassment gets spread around. I also have found that as the ratio of men vs women balances out the men seem to be more aware of what they are saying and tend to tone it down. I think with only one or two women in a group the men forget that they are in mixed company and say stuff that otherwise they wouldn't. That's not to deny that the tech industry is free from it's fair share of male idiots. At one job I was the only woman on my team and I had to deal with sexual comments and inappropriate touching. The men that did those things were not confused or autistic. They were well aware of our sexual harassment policy and it was absolutely clear that grabbing your coworker's ass was crossing the line. The more loner types that I worked with never would have considered doing any such thing. Hell some of them would barely look me in the eye; they weren't coming anywhere near my hiney. I've also worked in a sales environment and in the political arena with what are supposed to be "people persons." And several of those guys were jerks and made a game of cornering the new office intern in the copy room. I guess you could say they were more social in their harassment style as they liked to work in teams as opposed to the tech guy that liked to go solo on the ass grabbing. Assholes are assholes all the world around.

On a side note, we might get into heated discussions here at Salon, but I've never seen anyone threaten another person or post anything close to what I saw on the Rageboy and Sierra sites. We can be harsh on each other, but I've never seen it taken that level of foulness.

Hey Man

Thanks :)

Love your meltdowns and rants as well. Like I said... always funny!

P.S. - hope you're in class for spelling... nick's Europa, not Eurpoa

Ben Dover..

It's been my experience that unmarried men spend much of their time chasing women, usually unsuccessfully.

If you're not married why are you wasting so much time posting on the intertubes instead of out chasing all those fish that you claim are in the sea?

Sex is like air; it's not important unless you aren't getting any.
