but when a woman makes her money by exploiting sex, then she carries that weight on her shoulders: maybe she was stopped for a ticket - maybe she did entice the cop - maybe the jury got it right. The question to ask is: did this cop have any priors involving sexual assault? If not, it makes you wonder...
About this time last year we had a stripper accusing three (maybe five, maybe twenty) Duke lacrosse players of rape, and Broadsheet being much more exercised on her behalf-- how'd that turn out?
Check out the IBTP blog for some great perspectives on this case.
Notably, he has been fired from his job and the police department has already given her a monetary settlement. If you read the OC Weekly article they had pretty good reason to think her story might be credible. He had stopped her before and not given her a ticket (in spite of several infractions) but HAD gotten her home number. He had disengaged the car's GPS system (the pullover occured outside of his jurisdiction).
The fact is that sexual assault is an incredibly difficult crime to prove and the defense seemed to imply that a woman who is sexual or consents to sexual behavior in another context (with a pole, apparently) consents in all situations. And a jury agreed. Of course SHE is the overtly sexual one, not the guy who admitted to ejaculating on a woman during a traffic stop. The defense's case was grotesque and so was the disgusting societal double-standard it demonstrated.
...it's not normally consentual when the other person has a gun and is threatening you with jail time.

"Weight on her shoulders"...interesting. Why don't you tell me about other occupations that force people to identify with the job 24/7? What if you make your living as an accountant and the officer threatens you with a gun unless you do his taxes for free? God forbid I should be forced at gunpoint to build a website at gunpoint.
I'm sure you actually meant, "he's just a good old boy who can't help himself because he's a MAN." What the fuck difference does it make if he has any prior sex offenses? I would expect a member of law enforcement to keep his nubbin in his pants.
I'm going to assume you're writing from prison, since someone like you should never, ever be exposed to women.
The cop lost his job, as he must. Given his admission his behavior he will never work in his former profession again.
The jury did not have to believe the defense theory that victim initiated the encounter to get out of a traffic ticket. They just had to have reasonable doubt that she did in fact consent.
It was inappropriate of the defense to ask irrelevant and prejudicial questions. But he was entitled to push the envelope and did not merit a mistrial. Perhaps the prosecutor could have offered a lesser charge instead of being intent on convicting the officer as a felony-level sex offender.
disgusting
I'm sorry ma'am but...oh no...what's this with my hand? I can't control it! It's opening my fly! It's some sort of Vulcan stripper mind meld! Stop! I'm a cop, I'm an upstanding citizen! No, don't make me! Stop! Oooooh, that feels..NO! I won't! Oh God make it go faster NO..make it stop! Don't! Stop! Don't stop don't stop don't stop oh baby you like it like that don't you!
Whew! What happened? Last thing I remember I was asking to see your boobie!
Well, consider this a warning. Drive safely ma'am.
No, that's the way YOU feel. I meant that she's a tick away from a whore (i.e., a stripper) and probably acted like a whore does: treats her body as commerce and item to be bartered. We've all heard of women using their guiles to beat a ticket. Why is this so different?
You can call him an ass. You can call him lots of other things.
Frankly, this is just ridiculous. You hear it argued that men are more rational than women, smarter, better able to keep their cool. Why, then, when they can't keep their goddamn pants on, do we look to the woman for fault? Men ought to have more self-control than that. All the good men that I know (and that's a lot) do.
So it's pretty unfortunate for the male half of the species when jerks like this seemingly go out of their way to demonstrate that men are incapable of making good decisions when lust is on the line.
I meant that she's a tick away from a whore (i.e., a stripper) and probably acted like a whore does:
Even though only a cretin would associate a performance profession with penis-vagina insertion and just assume she acted a particular way, that would still never, ever justify the cop's actions. Law enforcement, in theory, is supposed to be above this behavior (on the job anyway - I don't give a shit what they do off the clock).
Anything she may or may not have done is completely irrelevant. If he was wearing a uniform and flashing a badge, he was in part, PAID NOT TO OPEN HIS PANTS. That's one of his duties as an officer of the law.
You ever hear the saying "Better to remain silent and be thought the fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt?" It's just something to think about, ya know what I mean?
P. S. You seem to be one step away from being a rapist (God, I hope one step!)
Blame the judge. He should have never allowed many of the questions that were asked. The judge should have been in control of his courtroom. However, he might have wanted this verdict. I don't trust judges any more than I trust cops. Some are probably great, but many are biased and crooked.
