What do you expect from St. John's University?

They are Catholic, and they also have a policy for the dorms -- you are fined $50 per condom found in your room. Not exactly "liberal academia."

Is this story Muslim policewoman story really true?

How can one train to become a policewoman without touching men?

The police have to touch people nobody else will touch.

Something about this story sounds false to me.

Re: Banning the vagina monologues...

The university did not "ban" the vagina monologues. They simply said they would not support it. That's quite a difference. As the Times article indicates, the student planning the production is considering taking it off campus. Good for her.

Somehow, if St Johns refused to allow the minute men on campus, I don't think you'd consider that "so 10 years ago". politics, politics, politics.

Re:Is this story Muslim policewoman story really true?

My guess would be that she would handle situations with women only so that it complies with their "purdah" laws (laws pertaining to gender). When I went to Saudi Arabia, there were certain things that were handled by women only in women-related issues.
