VET agrees with BOXER
Im a vet and I can say just because we volunteer does not have to be subject to idiotic
decisions like this Surge.
FDR had relatives in D-DAY and LBJ had relatives in Vietnam, typcial of GOP liars to
try to hide facts.
-
I have relatives in this war
I have relatives in Iraq AND Afghanistan. Most of the people in the U.S. government making decisions about Iraq and Afghanistan, like Rice, do not. Sen. Boxer may have spoken a bit clumsily. But I understand what she was getting at.

What's the problem?
The outrage being expressed by a party that questioned the patriotism of Max Cleland, "swift boated" John Kerry, and suggested that John McCain had an illegitimat love-child (or was it a drinking problem) is beyond the pale. Now that they are cornered, they are snarling like the junk-yard dogs that they are.
The point was a fair one to make, in that none of the neo-fascists running this government will ever feel the personal loss of a Cindy Sheehan. Whether it is 5-deferral Dick or the Texas fighter-jock during the Vietnam era, or their kids today, they will NEVER pay the personnal price they blithly demand of the rest of America and the people of Iraq.
They are a disgrace to everything that made America great.

Aw, is Condo offended? WELL! She must just be STEAMING over what Laura Bitch said!
Laura Bitch, oh sorry, I meant Bush, said about Condo just before Christmas that Condo could never be president because she "doesn't have a family to support her."
Where's the Right Wing outrage? Where are the righteous cries for an immediate apology? Huh? Huh? Where?
Fuck her! Ass-bang her! I don't care!
-
Remember the "war?"
The right wing-nuts would like for us to forget the "Blood for Oil" war going on for the last 4 years by making a Rush L. larger than life event out of nothing.
Just in case the right wing-nuts need a reminder:
Iraq war is:
BLOOD FOR OIL
BLOOD FOR OIL
One more time for Rush:
BLOOD FOR OIL

Something Out of Nothing!
This is a non-story seized upon by right-wing ideologues trying to deflect attention from their failed policies in Iraq. Sen. Boxer's comments were entirely appropriate to the subject at hand. Condi Rice is playing "the poor little me" card and Tony Snow is attempting to make something out of nothing. This is a transparent ploy!
-
Condo Rice is not only single...
She's a freak of nature.
Her parents in Denver were two of the most self-loathing American black people you could imagine. They hated their own skin color so much that they raised Condo as far away from Black Americans as they could get. They sent her to all-white schools, had her take diction lessons to remove all traces of Black American patois out of her speech. She was made to dress white, act white, iron her hair straight and stay white. Absolutely NO jazz music, no blues music, no Soul music. Condo was sent to a music conservatory to learn classical music to any of that residual "jungle rhythm" out of her system.
In sum, they beat the Black out of her.
She never got married in part because of the times she grew up in. She wouldn't ever marry a Black man because she was taught from childhood by her parents that Black men are all a bunch of shiftless no-accounts who would never amount to much and would drag her down. She couldn't marry a white man in those days because the scandal of it would end any career she aspired to. So she never married.
Condo is like a two-headed calf. A fucking FREAK. It's no wonder that the only place she could survive was being the token of one set of powerful white men after another.
She'll leave the Bush cabal in a few months when Negroponte takes the helm at State. She'll write a book or two then become a high-priced consultant and lobbyist. She'll never want for Ferrigamos and you will never ever see her championing the causes of average Black Americans. She hates them worse than frozen shit.

Spare me paul
"anon said:
Then why did Boxer specifically mention her children and grandchildren?
Because, at Barbara Boxer's age, among her immediate family, it would only be her children and grandchildren that are of military age. Chances are any of her siblings, and her parents (if they're still alive) are too old to consider military service. The temptation to add "duh" here is almost overwhelming."
Context paul, context.
I was responding to a previous poster who claimed that Boxer was only referring to "immediate family" and not specifically to her children, which is incorrect. Either way, Boxer was clearly claiming that Rice, because she does not have immediate family involved, was somehow incapable of fully understanding the gravity of the decisions involved- and that's a ridiculous assertion.
And the issue here is her uninformed comments to Rice(or anybody else for that matter), not the war itself. Boxer clearly feels that her own opinion, regardless of the fact that she does not have family members involved, is valid. Why else would she even participate in the discussion? So, she's basically setting up a double standard. That's the point. duh.

See what happens when critical thought is ejected from the school system!
This Boxer vs. Condi stuff about her being childless is bullshit, it's smoke and mirrors. Hey folks, don't look at the fact that pretty much all these people saying more trrops is necessary don't have a real stake in it. Instead look the Democrat used a childless woman's status against her!
If there is nothing wrong with not having children, that fact can't be used against you as an insult as Diane so nicely put. It's just a point, you want to escalate troops when a majority of the House and Senate and the US population don't want you to, but what do you care right, you don't have anything to lose. But if Boxer had said that, there would just be differnt types of bitch comments.

wow, where's Brightstar
and all the other woman haters? their walnut-sized brains must be exploding.
Even if it *was* a jab at being child-free, conservatives do this pratically every day. It's pretty much a given that when I enter a room (as a 34 year old single female with no children) that a conservative is going to back away slowly, brandishing a crucifix whilst muttering, "BA-A-A-ARREN!"
Rice could have easily been the one to say, "my parents are too old, as are your children, and your grandchildren are too young." Again, no one would be making a fuss if she'd said that to a single male, and I don't appreciate the implication that matter-of-factly mentioning a woman's lack of spawn would be an issue. I mean, don't you think Rice is aware of that fact?
As far as the NYPost quote, it's a mighty strange publication. I imagine their offices to be divided into two big rooms, one with normal cubicle and relatively chill younger people (who actually publish some great entertainment, lifestyle, and food content) and the other one, a 50s-style cavernous room with interrogation lanterns and obese men with fedoras and crumbs on their man-boobs spweing obscenities and furiously pecking away their old tyme drivel in a perverse time vacuum. I think today they actually used the word "beef" in reference to a disagreement, and "rumble" for fighting. I shit you not.
I was out of the country before the holidays, and did not hear about the Barbara Bush quote. Are you serious?! HOW IS SHE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH THAT? Even as a liberal feminist, I still think Rice kicks her frumpy wifey-butt in intelligence and poise. That said, her quote about "understanding" what families go through after talking to them is really pushing it.
Conservatives + panties = bunched!
