Now I read Salon for it's People magazine qualities...but I do still check in every day! 'Cause I love a parade...and a train wreck! And a man in uniform, oh boy and how!
October 24th is my birthday, too. I'm proud to share a birthday with you!
I read Broadsheet daily, or nearly every day -- thanks for your thoughtful, passionate and funny commentary and posts. Keep on, keep on!
I just come here for the hotties.
I've been reading Broadsheet since its inception last year, and can tell you that I've enjoyed it everyday. Great work!
Sorry for misspelling your name.
Congrats, Lynn, Paige, Rebecca, et.al. for a thought-provoking, insightful and down-right fun first year. I look forward to your posts/articles and seeing the comments from other Broads (regardless of their gender).
I know when I click on this section, it's going to challenge me, anger me, make me tear up, laugh, in short keep me real and connected. (Sort of a more outwardly intellectual version of the weekly Sit N Knit at my favorite yarn shop. Yes, Virgina: real dykes do knit! )
Thanks again and every good wish to you all.
Why not celebrate by tanking the stupid "sassy chick" illustration and changing the page's theme colour from lame "hey we're reclaimin'" pink to "normal Salon red".
The content over the course of a year has proven to be surprisingly good. The conduit, on the other hand, continues to be patronizing.
I'm touched. no! not there.
I know I can often sound harsh and (**gag**) mysogynistic- there, I said it- but I think those who understand where I come from as a critic know that I have always assumed as my personal gospel that all the gains that women have made in American society over the past century are very positive 'givens' that women rightfully SHOULD have (and ALWAYS should have had in the first place).
My criticism has always been that, maybe, the pendulum has swung over a bit too far in the other direction and that society, women AND men both, does need to engage in an active and ongoing conversation to find that comfortable long-term middle ground where the two sexes can agree on our joint terms of endearment- so we can all get to lovin' one another again without regret or remorse or misunderstanding and not just engage in competing power plays.
A noble effort. God knows modern life is difficult enough as it is.
Congrats Broadsheet for one year! Seems longer than that, but that is testament to the interesting variety of topics and articles and resulting commentary that is posted everyday on this segment of the site.
For the record, I do happen to like Pink Floyd
It's my birthday too!
Thought the idea seemed a little dumb when it was first introduced but broadsheet has become my favorite part of salon in the past year. While I don't always agree with the editorial slant of the posts, you've pointed out news that I otherwise might've missed, and I'm glad to have this source. Good job, ladies, keep it up.
You have been my main source for new about women since your inception. Keep doing what you're doing!
Yeah count me as one of the one of the guys who keeps you honest but does it in a friendly way at least. My one man show to try to demonstrate you don't have to be a misogynist prick or an emasculated wuss to be considered a "man". All the worlds a stage.
