Not sure I get your point
A campaign aimed at shaming men over facial hair is oppressive to women ?
-
This is just to great a story...
...not to take it and run with it and turn it into something else: REAL Lysistratas of stubble.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I'm rolling on the floor... well, I would be if I weren't at my keyboard. Again, thank you!

Wife lthe stubble look.
She's always encouraging me to take it easy on the razor and has pretty much forbidden me to shave while we're on holiday [which is okay by me]. After a while, though, she does say the stubble is scratchy when she swoops in for a kiss -- which she does often since I'm such a sexy beast.
I'm not a fan of leg or armpit hair on women and have only encountered it [in an intimate way] in Europe. My wife is incredibly fastidious about her grooming and, according to her, was that way long before she met me. I guess the patriarchy oppressed her before I got a chance to do it, leaving me with a nice smooth wife and a clear conscience!
As James Brown says: "It's a man's world!"
-
I guess the point is that women are under more pressure to shave than men are, which is kinda silly
but apparently a lot of women HAVE convinced themsleves that shaving is a problem for women but not for men. Although I have to admit I'd rather have them in their ignorance than have them in a position to know better.
-
I would never presume to tell a man he had to shave,
but neither would I allow a man to tell me what I should do regarding the hair on my body.
-
Oh fer god's sake
I'm with you, Lynn--I think my husband's hotter with stubble and I actually like him to kiss me with his scruffy face. Idiots. And the rest of it--showing non-shaved women as freaks--is ridiculous.
-
Well, I ran away with the idea...
...and this is what I did with it:

Thanks again, Lynn Harris!

Lysistrato of Stubble
My girlfriend forgot to shave her pussy for a few weeks.
It was horrific, so I refused to put out for her until she depilated "The Never-sated Beast", as we call it.
After the stubblies were removed, all was well with the world once again.
Keep Briny shiny, ladies, and you'll get a lot of attention!

Narrow Target Audience
The ad targets men who (1) do not shave (2) are (or expect to be) involved with women who find men who shave more attractive and (3) find women who shave more attractive.
I'm not convinced that most men find shaved legs more attractive than hairier legs. I suspect that men who fret over others' leg hair are already more likely to shave their chin (and possibly leg) hair, and that men who don't shave their chin hair are still less likely to worry about others' leg hair.

you know whats funny
wearing a short skirt and watching a guys face light up, than watching it fall as he realizes, oops your forgot to shave for the last year or so. and knowing if you get him alone, it won't bother him a bit- because unshaven legs are soft, not sand papery. it's the machismo thoughts that lead them to freak out, but one on one, you're a person, and "even" men put away their stereotypes for a real person. it's so much better than fantasy.
and for not being fantasy, pj, the problem i have with shaving "briny" is the last time i was smooth there, it was because i was pre-adolescent. and i don't find it sexy to feel like a little girl. and, no, it's really not been a problem.

Beards on Men
Well, for one, men who habitually don't shave (read: beard) are perfectly acceptable, but women who habitually don't shave aren't (hairy legs, armpits, bikini). Well, actually, it is in Europe in some places. But not in America.
And two, Parson Jim, you don't have a girlfriend. don't even try. :)
-
Time to shave The Beaver
Well, hairy Beaver, I do have a girlfriend, yes, I do.
Just like you.
-
What really bothers me
(I know--I'm taking this too seriously.)
What really bothers me is that the photos of "unshaven" women are clearly faked--either with Photoshop or makeup. Most women who don't shave aren't that hairy, as anyone who's ever gone to a liberal arts college, or Europe, or anywhere else in the world would know.
I know women who don't shave and just wear long pants at work. As a guy, I don't have the equivalent option since I can't cover my face (I'm not quite man enough to grow a real beard). And I also have to wear long pants despite my socially acceptable hairy legs!

Shaving, Men, Women
the problem i have with shaving "briny" is the last time i was smooth there, it was because i was pre-adolescent. and i don't find it sexy to feel like a little girl. and, no, it's really not been a problem.
But isn't all shaving an attempt to proclaim oneself a pre-adolescent?
At puberty, we humans start getting more and thicker hair in our armpits, on our legs, and in our pubic regions. Men also start getting it on their faces and chests. Some also get it on their backs. As we age, men tend to also get thicker and longer hair on their eyebrows, in their noses, and in their ears.
It's all natural, but to one extent or another, our culture considers all of that post-pubescent hair "gross".
Strange, no?

Not surprising
Thanks for the laugh over a commercial that stresses the usual gender stereotypes. Youa lways write the greatest stuff

It seems that all male porn stars and strippers who perform for women shave their chests
and pubes but I never heard of anyone doing it in any other context. Do men ever shave body hair for women(other than back hair)?
-
To anon
No, my man does not shave his body hair for me, but he does trim his bush with scissors so that I can happily visit that area without leaving it with a mouthful of hair. I personally think the hairless balls and butt cracks of men in porn is weird.
