What is it with these people and Cervical Cancer?

Christ, you would think that only sinners and freaks get it as a punishment for their crazy lifestyles... Actually, that is probably exactly what they think. First the HPV vaccine is evil because it will make young girls promiscuous, now they are getting rid of Cervical Cancer screening. These people make my head hurt, and I'm a guy.

Some democrat better pounce on this

The fact that they won't barter for better prices for prescription meds, but are perfectly willing to tell insurance companies there are plenty of medications and services they don't have to cover is just dandy.

Why is putting women's health at risk and pinching their pocketbooks so important to republicans? All some democrats have to do is point to MONEY, even anti-choice people love their wallets.

I hate these people, they don't want even a married woman who may have had only one sex partner to not get a cancer check and that being pregnant I have no right to keep the same doctor for the whole process? Like it's no big deal being pregnant and being comfortable to ask questions because this person will be here the whole time? What the fuck is wrong with these people???

Sweet acronym

"HIM"MAA is so appropriate, don't you think?

I feel so defeated by this constant barrage of legislation against women. If I have to see one more whey-faced, self-righteous, soft-hand-having male politician grin with triumph as he signs an anti-woman bill into law, I think the top of my head is going to blow off.

Too much for a comment...

so, I had to post something on my blog about this: http://blogs.salon.com/0004000

...complete with photo of said legislator; a link to a description of the bill from his website, describing its benefits for small businesses; and another to his bio. He used to be an accountant and a shoe store owner! ...before running for office. And now he wants to play with health care policy?!

Apologies in advance if I offend any accountants. Just ranting from personal observations about accountants doing business other than accounting.

It does a lot more than that.

Honestly, Planned Parenthood has it's heart in the right place. Sometimes, though, I wish they'd get a clue. was introduced back in November and since then has had objections from lots of folks not the least of which are mental health advocacy groups. A coalition of opponents organized in, say, December would have a great deal more power than a press release now.

Of course it is horrid. Of course they speak out of both sides of their collective mouths. Let the states decide about abortion but silence their voices with the profits of their friends play a role. But there are better ways of dealing with such issues.

Are women just baby making machines?

So we aren't allowed to end an unwanted pregnancy nor can we prevent one from occuring? If sex is only for reproductive purposes then why is Vigara available to any man who wants it (and covered by health insurance)? Now about a bill that says only men who are in a committed "one man-one woman" marriage are allowed to get Viagra...and add to it that any child produced from the use of Vigara must be supported until 18 even if the parents split.

What's next a bill requiring women to wear burquas or maybe they'll want to reinstitute the chastity belt...that's more "Christiany."

Now you're getting it!

You are correct Disgusted.

But this is just our current "leaders" plan to deal with terrorists, who, as we've been indoctrinated, I mean , told, hate us for our freedoms.

So, in order to stop Taliban-type governments from hating us, we will emulate the best of their cultures - the criminalization of being born female.

Once women have no control over their uteri, then we can get rid of all those pesky laws requiring women be treated as full citizens with right to work for equal pay, right to education etc. We can then look to the bible so the males will know how much they can get and who they can sell their female children to. Or we can emulate the Saudis and not even bother with birth certificates for what is born female. Women will return to having 3 choices in life: wife, nun, or prostitute.

I hear women are happier with few choices anyhow.

What was truly hippocritical ...

I wonder if this bill will cover Viagra payments.

In Georgia my health insurance plan didn't cover birth control pills but covered Viagra. Guess who made that decision. I think after a year they started to finally cover birth control pills.

Maybe feminists should push to make sure unmarried men take salt peter to reduce their sex drive. Because as we all know it takes two to tango unless of course one of them is a rapist. Of course in the case of rape, it may have been the not religious, not virgin, not pure woman's fault anyway. ;-)

A little late but...

For reference it's bill S.1955

You can read it at http://tinyurl.com/rx4re

I can't take it anymore.

This just goes to show that these guys will truly take us back to the 1950s if given a chance. Once they're done with women's health and women's rights, maybe they'll start dismantling the Civil Rights Act, also. Except, of course, for the parts that Target is using to justify not requiring their Christian pharmacists to fill birth control prescriptions.

Thank goodness I have an IUD. Even when they're not covered by insurance, IUDs are cheaper over the course of 5-10 years (depending on the model) than the current copay for birth control pills. And if insurance stops covering birth control again, that savings goes up. Plus, the IUD has the same effectiveness as surgical sterilization - which is a good thing since the right wants to take away our right to abortion also.

We need to fight hard to take back the Congress this year, ladies. Because everytime you think the American Taliban has done its worst, they find yet another way to legislate us back into the dark ages.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

...but don't OUR TAX DOLLARS go to paying these people? Don't they WORK FOR US?

Can I have my money back, please? I'm going to need it to pay for me own cervical cancer exam.
