Writing about feminists? Just make stuff up

Lynn,

Thanks so much for this item. When I read Heffernan's article in the New York Times that sentence where she gratuitously and randomly trashes feminists jumped out at me. You said it all.

Best,

Meredith

Exhibit A

From one of the radio shows: "A man with a woman wanting a lot of sex has little recourse but to kill her 'cause she can't be trusted."

And that, in a nutshell, is why I will never date a Hispanic man. Because even if he's liberal, that kind of poison has seeped into his mind from birth.

Of course, if someone were saying that members of another race who liked to have sex should be killed, they'd be taken off the air. But hey, it's just women! They don't matter!

Damn, wish I could speak spanish!

The reason why these radio stations can get away with this is because they are speaking in spanish and the FCC doesn't monitor the radio, they only respond to complaints. I doubt there are many spanish speaking women who are willing to call and complain and even if they do, will the FCC even bother to fine the brown channels?

As for stereotyping latino/hispanic men, they are not all machismo fuckers.

Some men cannot cope with the fact that women can be just as disloyal and dishonest as they are, they can't stand it when women have as many options as they do. So there are clitoral removals, keeping women chained to the home, allowed out with male escorts only, removing her from friends and family, purity exams, all so he can be secure that she won't leave him for another man. I'm sure you'll find that the men who think this way are consistent cheaters themselves. These are the people who believe they deserve a wife having their babies, taking care of the home, be willing to service them any time, while they go out to bars, nightclubs and brothels and pick up any woman they want, while their wife must be loyal. I'm sure some of it is rooted in biology, a woman always knows the baby is hers, a man can never be sure, so he can only control access.

This isn't confined to one race, this is confined to weak minded insecure men across the planet. Strong secure men like women who love sex and they believe in trusting their partners.

the woman in the Bronx who slept with over 300 firefighters

*IS* a nympho. Also a slut. It's distressing that feminists cannot bring themselves to acknowlege immoral, anti-social, and self-destructive behavior in women.

Wednesday, February 15, 2006 08:57 PM

not the point but...

While you will here some derogartory comments made about men who sleep around, it's usually concern that they are treating women unfairly that's expressed, not nasty terms like "slut" being used to indicate that it is the desire for intercourse alone that is the problem. Why do you think that is?

Besides, I think the point of the article is not that there is a woman who slept with 300 firefighters (and boy is her hoo-hoo tired), but that there is a publicly expressed outrage that women seek sex. The apocryphal story is merely a venue.

oops

"hear" not "here"

To A Single Man

Sure sleeping with 300 people is unhealthy, but the point is, nympho, slut, whore, are all names that can be applied to her.

What is the term for a male who has slept with 300 women? Lothario? Casanova? Don Juan? Stud? Those don't sound nearly as bad as the word slut. Oh and when do we apply a term for mental dysfunction to a man who has lots of sex with different women? Do men get called a nympho? Imagine calling a man a maniac because he's had lots of sex with different people and implying that something in his brain isn't working properly.

That's the point, not that this particular woman is going for a world record of sex partners.
