    When did this column turn into a discussion of Anonymous's unhappy life?

    Whether you're a woman or a man, twisting yourself into some received idea of what the stereotypical member of the opposite sex supposedly demands--whether or not you got results--seems like a recipe for nothing but bitterness. Anonymous unhappily seems like an excellent illustration of that.

    Thank god the world is full of actual men and women with their own minds who aren't just there to be stereotypes. If they're not all pretending to be things they aren't, individual men and women actually have the chance to find out they like each other! And who wants to spend their life with someone who doesn't like them?
