Caution: Moral Giants At Large

OK, boys, let me explain this to you.

In every major religion, it is considered immoral to intentionally do things that cause harm to other people. And in most places, you get extra immorality points for knowingly doing harm to children (a point brightstar himself acknowledges in his first post, when he tries to invoke the threat of teen prostitution as a result of kids getting accurate sexual information).

The studies being quoted here prove (once again) that kids who receive complete and factual sex education are at less risk of harm than those who don't. Thus, those who deliberately prevent young teens from receiving this necessary information are knowingly -- and thus immorally -- exposing those children to life-threatening risks they would not be exposed to otherwise.

My kids, BTW, get their sex ed at church. Right there in the basement, boys and girls together, they've played with condoms, learned about STDs, talked to gay couples about their relationships, and been made aware that sexuality is a normal, natural part of life from birth to death. They know where to go locally if they need a doctor, a friendly adult, birth control, or an abortion. Most importantly, they know how to tell a healthy relationship from a dangerous one; how to tell when they are finally ready to become sexual with someone; and how to get their need for intimacy and affection met without engaging in sexual activity before that day arrives.

The Unitarians have been teaching their kids this stuff for over 40 years. Years of research have found, over and over, that the kids who go through the church's sexuality education (which is far more explicit and detailed than any U.S. public school system will dare to offer) wait longer to become sexually active, use condoms more reliably, and have lower rates of disease and pregancy than any other class of teens you can find anywhere. The tens of thousands of kids who've been through this program over four decades are walking advertisements for the idea that the more and better information kids have about sex, the better decisions they make.

On the other hand, this is hardly news. This notion has been proven so many times in so many countries over so many years that only the most willfully ignorant among us even try to refute it any more.

Congratulations, gentlemen. You've not only announced your total incompetence at even the most basic levels of moral reasoning; you've also broadcast a level of deliberate ignorance that most of the rest of us would be far too embarassed to reveal on a national news site.

It's probably futile to hope that you'll be too mortified by this experience to ever show your faces here again.

New Scientific Breakthrough!

Studies PROVE immorality!

Imagine the possibilities!

Next, researchers can SCIENTIFICALLY prove that conservatives, Christians and President Bush are IMMORAL!

Are there no limits to the wonders of scientific discovery?

I just can't wait for the PBS documentary.

You still don't get it

Sex education is for men and women, both sexes have reproductive organs you dolt. Sex education is not a feminist issue it is a human issue, it's just that it affects women more than men because we are the ones that get pregnant, we are the ones that get urinary tract infections from sex and HPV can give us cervical cancer. Our reproductive system is just a wee bit more complicated than a mans.

Nice to know you hate people so much you'd don't care if they know how to protect themselves from STD's. Oh and by the way did you happen to know that you could contract gential herpes from a sitting pool of water on a hot tub platform if the person sitting there previously has genital herpes? If you didn't than that is why people need sex ed. Ass.

You are an idiot brightstar

Ok Brightstar, who obviously is not very bright.

When you are in biology and physiology class, every system in your body is expained to you. How it works, how you keep it healthy and how you protect it. The reproductive system is no different. That is why SEX EDUCATION is a human right, not the right to have sex. Did you fail reading comprehension?

Information is not a go ahead, go screw your brains out. In fact if you actually tried to learn something instead of ranting about 14 yr olds having sex and lack of access to cheap hookers, when people have a comprehensive sex education, they are more likely to postpone sex and keep their reproductive organs healthy.

SEX FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHT? OK

If a fundamental human right is to have sex at age 14 if one desires it, then when will prostitution become LEGAL and INEXPENSIVE for men? Not all of us men can just snap a finger and find babes falling all over us to get it on with.

Feminism is crap, it only serves women.
