Those of us who live in Maryland, next door to Virginia, are used to reading about this sort of thing in the Old Dominion. It's the home of Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, after all. [And if any Virginians read this and think I'm engaging in a bit of typical Marylander snobbery, I cheerfully plead guilty. Stop making it so easy for us to be snobs re Virginia and we'll stop. That's a promise.]
State Sen. Pat Miller (R-Indianapolis) proposed similar legislation in Indiana last year. It was withdrawn after news of the bill spread across the internet. Let's hope a similar fate awaits the Virginia bill.
