thinking with your "d*ck"
common sense is the answer here. Of course in a perfect world we would all know are partners completely before engaging in sex, although this starts to sound a lot like no sex till after marriage. The underlying issue here that many of these posts hint at is the disgust that woman have in a mans desire for casual and attachment free sex. Men desire sex in a way that women will never understand. It is constant and drives in some part almost every decision we make from about age 15 until maybe 40. It is probably as strong a biological impulse as the urge to reproduce in women. I have known many a female friend who around 30 have such an urge to reproduce we termed it baby fever. It consumes them even when rationally they maybe know better or are not in the healthiest of places in life. The male equivalent of this is his urge for a healthy sex life. Of course women know this, and thus men are forced to pay thousands of dollars and deal with compromise after compromise to get it. We still have to do the courting, both financial and emotional, and dance the dance to get laid. The vast majority of men never have the sex life the wanted anyway, and end up married with a family eventually learning to live having compromised when it came to their strongest impulse in life. Its no wonder then men tend to "think with their dicks." Its like asking a starving man why he ate that semi-expired meal or stole that loaf of bread. Most men are so "famished" they take what they can get when they can get it, and often dont think things through, to their own detriment. And as to the phraise, "thinking with your dick", I think we should all refer to women who reach age 30 and contract baby fever as , "thinking with their wombs." as in, : Hey john, my wife shirly just wont start talking about wanting a kid.", "ehhh, just tell her to get over it, and stop thinking with her womb for once."

A man's right to choose.
Certainly a man shouldn't have the right to abort the fetus, but I believe that he should have the right to choose if he wants to be a parent.
I propose that men get the right to deny child financial support to their future children. Sending a notarized letter in the first trimester of the fetus' development would exempt him from having to pay child support. It would also remove any legal claims he had over the child. By limiting it to the first trimester, it would give the woman time to decide if she wants to have the child with no paternal financial support.
With this proposal, BOTH the man and the woman get to choose if they want to be parents.

men's rights--head 'em up and move 'em out--rawhide
Men who want to have a say in whether or not a woman has their baby need to a.) keep their sperm in their own reproductive organs or b.) take charge of the birth control to make it extremely unlikely that a pregnancy will take place. I'm shocked that any thinking and allegedly pro-choice person would assert otherwise.

Nonsense
Chanting about "women's bodies" is a nice rhetorical device to silence the opposition, but the reality is that women have abortions because they don't want to become mothers, not because of some affront to their bodily integrity.
both parents are responsible for decisions that affect its life. Who raises it. Who cares for it. Who supports it. Neither party should be permitted to walk away from his or her financial responsibility without the express consent of the other.
She wants to give it up for adoption and he doesn't? Fine - he can keep it and she can pay child support. There's your equality.

and by the way

has to be just about the stupidest thing I have ever read on this site.

Ever notice how some people advocate honesty, communication
etc. etc. until the precise moment that they hear something they don't like and then immeidatly go into ridicule/attack mode. Why are men so emotionally unavailable? blah blah blah. Life truly is a mystery.

Orin's Proposal
Proposed Orin Pritchard:
I propose that men get the right to deny child financial support to their future children. Sending a notarized letter in the first trimester of the fetus' development would exempt him from having to pay child support. It would also remove any legal claims he had over the child. By limiting it to the first trimester, it would give the woman time to decide if she wants to have the child with no paternal financial support.
There's just one problem with that, though, and it's a pretty big one.
Legally, paternity can't just be assumed by dates (although possibly in some states there might be an exception for married couples). DNA testing has to be done to determine paternity. Currently the only reliable DNA testing that can be done prenatally is through amniocentesis, which has to wait until the second trimester.
In almost 90% of the country, no second-trimester abortion services are available at all. And where it is available, it has to be performed surgically and is much more medically risky and expensive than a first-trimester abortion. So by the time a man "opts out," under your proposal, it's too late for a woman to terminate the pregnancy under most circumstances.
Also, does anyone have any idea what it will cost for taxpayers to pick up the tab for every "fatherless" baby out there? I personally don't mind paying higher taxes to support those in need, but apparently an awful lot of people out there do. In fact, Bush just slashed the safety net even more, and would have gutted it more if congressional Democrats hadn't fought him tooth and nail. I rather dread that all this "opting out" that fathers want to do isn't going to result in more abortions so much as it's going to result in a lot more hungry kids.
