Old Testament stuff

Homosexuality is a sin, just like incest and adultery. Christians follow the laws about those other basic principles, so how is it absurd to include male homosexual acts? While Christians may not follow the kosher laws or the ones about temple sacrifices, the ones that apply to human relationships are hardly able to be discarded. Christianity is a reform of Judaism, but not so much so that they throw out all the precedents.

Well it could've been worse...

"Ah. There really is nothing like Christian tolerance."

True - it could've been Muslim tolerance - but then the defrocked dyke would probably be dead...pushed under a stone wall or just stoned to death...

Ah....

Nothing like feminist Christian bashing....

Who's really the unrepentant sinner?

This pastor is guilty of the sin of pride, for believing that he knows this man's heart better than God. He's also guity of the sin of hatred, because he wouldn't mind if a gay man joined his church if he wasn't prejudiced against homosexuals. And he doesn't seem particularly repentant.

By his own logic, this pastor is unfit to join his own church.

Old Testament Absurdity

Don't be silly, Tatyana, nobody follows all the dictums of the Old Testament. Without that, you have no point.

Christian? Old Testament?

We are all sinners.

We all sin in large and small ways, all the time, every day.

Sometimes we realize it and ultimately repent. Sometimes not.

The goal of a Christian is to spread the Word of God, not just for the glory of God, but to make the world a better place.

I fail to see how withdrawing the circle of Christian friendship and love from a practicing homosexual will make the world a better place, nor even how that will lead that homosexual to more deeply embrace Christianity.

Christian tolerance means loving the sinner and hating the sin. Christians do not hate homosexuals.

There are limits to tolerance, as there ought to be. If the goal of a spiritual group is to follow the Biblical way of life and worship G-d, then it follows that they wouldn't want unrepentent sinners among them since they clearly don't have the same interests. A male [the Bible says nothing about female homosexuality actually] homosexual who continues to have sex with other men and embrace a "gay" identity is someone who does not believe that the Old Testament is literal, and therefore he is obviously in conflict with the stated goals of that church. There are plenty of other more liberal ones that would accomodate him. Homosexuals who decide to be celibate are often welcomed in churches because they, like everyone else, have decided to fight their immoral inclinations.
