So,like, the guys get to read about the five counts against Scooter Libby, and we get to read about the just scintillating "news" about Brooke Shields' pregnancy (with a sidebar instructing us nitwits that anything in parens is not news, just in case we might worry our pretty little heads over it). Oh, plus the uproarious joke, "Paxil all around!" since, as everyone knows, medicating a clinical depression is SO funny!!!! hahahaha! Oh you cheeky gals! What next? I don't think I'll be checking in to find out.
Please. Put this blog out of its (and our) misery. This just purely sucks.
Tom Cruise thinks that one should take vitamins for depression, so he is obviously not against taking a pill to treat the problem.
Why does Tom Cruise think he is more qualified than an MD to decide which pills are more effective in treating depression?
Haven't we had enough of a recent education about how badly things can go when unqualified people make life and death decisions for others?
After giving birth to my third child I went crazy with depression. Panic attacks, shortness of breath, an overpowering feeling of wanting to "throw the baby away." We lived in an apartment with terraces, and I could not walk out on the terrace with her in my arms. I was afraid of what I might do. Post-partum depression, which I was experiencing, was not recognized 38 years ago when I had it. And I had not felt it with my first two.
Finally, after a year of hell, and a very helpful, understanding husband, I came out of it and went on to have three more happy, healthy pregnancies and births.I have six grown children now, but I will never forget when the only thing the doctor could say was, "it's hormones!" We've come a long way, baby.
Gee, wasn't that witty/snarky/clever/cheeky.
If you, dear author, ever find yourself taking antidepressants just to feel normal, I sincerely hope you never forget to take one of them and find, halfway through the day, that you are spinning out of control with a feeling of pure panic. It's not nice.
So spare us the cleverness, all right?
Are you (seriously or for kicks) suggesting that a woman who suffers from postpartum depression shouldn't become pregnant again? If so, why don't you just come out and say it? At least Tom Cruise had the courage of his witless conviction.
If not, who cares?
