Why was the Homeland Security mixed up in the Jon Benet arrest in the first place? Why is the Boulder DA back pedalling so fast and apologizing for having made the arrest too early? Why didn't they let the Bangkok police pick him and let him cool his heels in a Thai jail until the evidence came together? Why this high profile trip and press conference?
Did anyone else notice in recent polling that Bush is loosing favor with the security moms? It smells a lot like Karl Rove made few phone calls and thought they could get some free PR to boost Dubya's sagging numbers.
I bet John Karr has yet unexamined ties to the Bush clan. The Republicans love Thailand, Rush Limbaugh, because of it's underage prostitution.
Am I the only one who noticed the discovery of a Pakistani woman with liquid explosives at the airport in George "Macaca" Allen's state yesterday? That could change the news focus quick!
Here they come. Like actors in a bad remake of "Night of the Living Dead," the ghouls are lurching up and down the streets of Boulder again. They hope to get the chance to feed one more time on the rotting corpse of a little girl.
Goofy Greta von Facelift, perpetually sneering Nancy Graceless, hyperventilating Rita Crosby and other hyenas are snarling over the remains, trying to crush Jon Benet's bones to get at one last savory morsel that hasn't already been sucked dry. But even if there is nothing left, they seem to survive on each other's regurgitation for a whole week's news cycle.
This re-awakening that brought the zombies to Boulder has nothing to do with Karl Rove. It's simply lagniappe for him -- a serendipity that comes along all too frequently these days because of our media's insatiable thirst to fill air time with low-cost sensational crap.
Reporting real stories is a crap shoot. You can send Wolf Blitzer to Tel Aviv at great expense and let him drone on and on about stuff that the average American dumbass couldn't care less about, or you can run a 20-second piece of video over and over and over of a creepy screwball making looney faces and taking a perp walk, and fill a whole day's news hole for peanuts.
If you were a savvy and cost-conscious CNN producer, which would you chose?
...the Coors family is extremely powerful in Colorado and they are very good friends of the Bushes and the Cheneys. They hired Mary Cheney to be a professional lesbian shill for their beer corporation before Dick Cheney ran for VP and before Mary Cheney decided that being a lesbian was "too personal." Ah yes, back in the day it was OK for Mary Cheney to personally and publically profit from her homosexuality as the official Coors Beer Liaison to the Gay and Lesbian Community, wherein she toured gay bars and gay events across the US with "1999 International Mr Leather" on behalf of Coors Beer.
Then there's Colorado Springs, home to the greatest concentration of fundamentalist Christian activist groups in American history.
So maybe Rove himself wasn't in Colorado, but his and George W Bush's and Dick Cheney's good pals sure are.
I guess it's kinda funny to suspect that Karl Rove and the Bush Administration actually has something to do with this obviously fishy "confession" in the JonBenet Ramsey case. And I guess it's kinda funny, not funny ha-ha, mind you, to suspect the same involvement in this whole London "plot" thing.
Except I'm finding it more and more terrifying. Please note my use of the word "terrify." I'm feeling terrorized by my own government. Granted, it's in subtle and stealthy ways - but they're less and less and less plausibly deniable, you know?
What is it called when you immediately suspect or even disbelieve, with excellent reason, everything that happens around you or is claimed by your govenment?
I'm actually scared to death. And it's not of Al Quaida, folks.
Can anyone help me out with what I'm supposed to do about this feeling? I'm dead serious.
He's running in Virginia.
George Allen represents the people of Virginia not, as posted above, the good folks of West Virginia. Ceredo airport is a good 70+ miles from the Virginia border.
I initially read this as bit of media bashing and conspiracy satire and was much amused. Then I realized at the end that I was considering if the premise was, in fact, true. I've never trusted politicians, of any party, to really look after my well being; but to realize that the last few years have so trashed my confidence in the American government that I can willingly try on the tin-foil hat...that's really depressing.
"OK, so maybe I was. But I have a point. It's perfect, really. It's August. None of us want to wrap our heads around "complicated" news. We're mushy and suggestible. And we all know that that's just the way our president and his buddies like us."
Don't confuse your own stupidity with everyone else's.
You have no point. It's sad to see how paranoid liberals have become.
You're supposed to be suspicious of the government. You should never have full confidence in them.
It's the media that is frightening. When I was growing up, the media were advocates for those without a voice. They documented bad conditions in government housing, they uncovered government fraud, they revealed consumer dangers and scams, they investigated politicians for bribe-taking, they concentrated on local news as well as national news and they weren't obsessed with one particular news story for weeks and months at a time. I mean geez, I grew up during the Son of Sam days and Son of Sam was only the daily headline if he shot someone or wrote a letter to the newspaper. He wasn't the number one story day after day.
Investigative reporting is dead. John Stossel is a prime example of what's wrong with the media today. He made his name documenting consumer fraud, then when he was famous enough to make deals, he became a paid spokesman for chemical corporations while still allowed to be an anchor for ABC News' 20/20. He boldly lied on television to discredit real consumer advocates and suffered no consequence. In fact, he was promoted.
It's the mainstream media that you should be most afraid of. They have abdicated their responsibilities and become nothing more than an arm of the K Street Project with pretty faces and sonorous voices.
