Here is some interesting thoughts about the cartoons (not mine)

We see video on CNN showing rampaging Muslims around the world. In Europe, the Middle East, the Pacific Rim ... Muslim Mobs spreading mayhem. It seems that these mighty mad Muslims are rioting and firing their ever-present AK-47s into the air because of cartoons. This latest epidemic of Muslim outrage comes to us because some newspapers in Norway and Denmark published some cartoons depicting Mohammed.

Muslim outrage huh. OK ... let’s do a little historical review.

Just some lowlights:

[1] Muslims fly commercial airliners into buildings in New York City. No Muslim outrage.

[2] Muslim officials block the exit where school girls are trying to escape a burning building because their faces were exposed. No Muslim outrage.

[3] Muslims cut off the heads of three teenaged girls on their way to school in Indonesia. A Christian school. No Muslim outrage.

[4] Muslims murder teachers trying to teach Muslim children in Iraq. No Muslim outrage.

[5] Muslims murder over 80 tourists with car bombs outside cafes and hotels in Egypt. No Muslim outrage.

[6] A Muslim attacks a missionary children’s school in India. Kills six. No Muslim outrage.

[12] Muslims murder innocent vacationers in Bali. No Muslim outrage.

[13] Muslim newspapers publish anti-Semitic cartoons. No Muslim outrage

[14] Muslims are involved, on one side or the other, in almost every one of the 125+ shooting wars around the world. No Muslim outrage.

[15] Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge. No Muslim outrage.

[16] Newspapers in Denmark and Norway publish cartoons depicting Mohammed. Muslims are outraged.

[17] Dead children. Dead tourists. Dead teachers. Dead doctors and nurses. Death, destruction and mayhem around the world at the hands of Muslims .. no Muslim outrage ...

The issue, for me, is not whether we can change the Jihadists...the issue, in this case, is whether we let the Jihadists change us.

Self censorship of the press is appeasement to Jihadists.

When appeasements BEGIN with instant willingness to give up Free Press (or Speech), I like neither the direction, nor the velocity of this editorial change at Salon.

You can rest easily, because unlike your liberal counterparts, I won't call you a baby killer. But even you have to admit what Salon is doing (and rags like it) is inciting the enemy. You should know it, it also happened to YOU with Jane Fonda.

But, by using simple analysis, it comes down to a liberal drafted. Key word there Bubba, drafted. At least you did not run to Canada, where all you far left liberals belong. You volunteered for squat, unlike the soldiers of today who place our nation’s ideals above their own self interest. Let me say that again, in case you still are smoking weed. "Put the nation before their (the soldiers) own self interest." Sort of like, mmmm, Kennedy - "Ask not what, etc."

But in the end (no pun intended) you did get the green weenie because of conflict started by Democrats. So I can see how you are a bit grumpy about War, because you never wanted to be a soldier to begin with... The saddest part of your story is that you jump ship to the party who had control of the House and Senate for the majority of 40 years, and screwed up the entire world, and our domestic programs, via an idiotic cold war foreign policy and domestic giveaways which we have to clean up now. You’re sleeping with the enemy, to use your own love of the circular logic vernacular, the very ones who sent you off to war to begin with... (I wonder if that will happen with the current crop of veteran's, they will all become Republicans!) To top it all off you were a Republican when Jimmy Carter is in office and switch AFTER Reagan is elected? You’re saying Reagan was worse than Carter… You are thick aren’t you?

You’re a bitter old man, and I'm sorry for that. My brother (another Vietnam Vet who actually volunteered) is just like you in a lot of ways, but he's a bit more patriotic towards the soldiers, and that was my WHOLE point of my initial post. Support the troops - is that so hard for you, and the left, to understand?
