No SPOT?

Don't forget to get a SPOT satellite tracking device while you're using all those cool snow goodies. I use it for mountain biking and my SO loves it; with the press of a button she gets a text message/email with a "I'm OK!" message and a link to Google Maps with my exact location.

Don't turn it on while you're on a road trip with the boys, but do turn it on on your next backcountry snowboarding adventure. (It also has a HELP and 911 button, although you have to pay an extra monthly fee for that service.)

Definitely a worthwhile gadget for the outdoor traveler. I'm only proselytizing since my new next door neighbor works for them and hooked me up with one. I'm a convert!

Ugh

This is revolting. Just checked in to tell you that. We don't need this type of article @ Salon.
