[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes. Well. Certainly we've known this in our bones for a long, long time. There is a persistent threat to the domestic peace and tranquility from a cohort of religious and ideological nutjobs, almost all of whom are concentrated on the authoritarian right. Domestic terrorism has been going on sporadically (and sometimes spectacularly) for many, many years, and almost all of it is rooted in the ideological and/or religious nut-job authoritarian right.
And these are the same people -- oddly enough -- who are screaming loudest about the "existential threat" to America and Western Civilization Itself represented by the religious and ideological nutjobs among Islamic jihadi. How about that? They are one another's friendless kin.
Talk. About. Projection.
But note that in the whipped up fear and fury over the existential threat to the survival of Western Civilization represented by the relative handful of Islamic terrorist believers in the whole wide world, one could easily read the manifestos and calls to arms issued by the likes of Steyn and Malkin as somewhat clunky re-writes of any number of Anti-Jew screeds from the 1920's, both home grown and foreign.
Just replace references to Muslims with "Jews". There is no substantial difference between one form of Anti-Semitism and another. The whole point is that the very existence of these Semites (whether Jews or Muslims) is an existential threat to our own survival. Therefore, we -- as the inheritors of Civilization Itself -- must do whatever it takes to secure our way of life against these alien hordes.
Thankfully fewer people seem to be falling for it this time around, but as has been repeatedly demonstrated, it doesn't take a majority to subvert and capture control of a government to then use for whatever nefarious purposes desired.
If only we had an opposition party. But we -- still -- don't.

Please do report the corrections

[Read more letters about this article: Here]that appear in the wingnut-o-sphere. Count and report the corrected record in the columns. I will bet right now there will be not a one. The issue will be stuffed in the Memory Hole as if it never was, and the fact that Plame was "covert" will be dismissed as of no importance, being as that her husband is a Bad Man who Made Trouble -- and she got him the gig in Niger, anyway. Nyah, nyah.
On the other hand, it didn't help a bit that the Plame-Wilsons and the CIA played coy about her status, and Fitzgerald has taken how long to clearly state the obvious? Part of the reason the RWAs got away with their lies -- and they have, make no mistake -- was because the people who knew the truth wouldn't state it.
"Process" and "rules" somehow prevented them from countering the outright falsehoods being spread far and wide without challenge. Played right in to the Big Lie, didn't it?
Why would they let the lie proceed like that?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I see from the update pic that the Pundit Preferred Candidate Fred "The Head" Thompson, has a Heueueueueueuege Head. He's got both Tony Snow and Brit Hume beat by acres of headage, and that's the appeal of the man when you get right down to it, even though the pert little Accessary Wive he's wearing on his side has some appeal in her own right. For some reason, these people inside the Beltway are absolutely in love, LUV, with men with Big Heads.
So. Let them squirm and twitter and squeal at the Candidate With All That Head. They aren't going to get their choice. The Corporate Candidate is Mitt, and as far as these PunditTwits' Bosses are concerned, Mitt has already been annointed and installed as the Successor to Leige Lord Bush. You have heard Mitt is ahead in Iowa, yes? That's all anyone needs to know, we shouldn't even have to have a Selection, the choice has already been made.
Mitt.

And note: there may as well not be any Democratic Candidates at all. The only one who will be talked about is Hillary, but not because of anything she has to offer as President, ha ha, what a laugh. It's because of all that hot sex she isn't getting from Big Dog. So you know what that means. Phwoar. Winka-winka, nudge-nudge.
Mitt is your man.
