Capitalism? I don't think so

"Scabs – what a nasty word – how are these workers breaking your strike? You aren’t in a union. You are just experiencing capitalism at its finest…"

This is not capitalism. This is management conspiring with the government to bring in a serf class of lower-paid workers to destroy the wage scale.

1) They are paid less, because the whole idea of a "prevailing wage" is idiotic. There is a wage range, and they are paid at the bottom of it.

2) This is AGE DISCRIMINATION at its core. Older American workers are removed, and cheap foreign scabs are brought in to replace them. Sometimes, the Americans train their replacements.

3) The workers cannot move around. They are serfs, just like in the middle ages, chained to the land/corporation.

H-1B is a wretched, broken system. Recent reports by the Urban Institute demonstrate that we do not have enough IT jobs for our own domestic grads. We need to eliminate H-1Bs and L-1s, and allow these foreign "geniuses" (who usually need constant supervision + translation assistance) to emigrate in the normal manner, rather than allowing them to cut in line and by-pass the normal channels.

Rubber, meet road

Recent surveys present the road to the rubber:

Time (435 LV, Feb 1-4, MOE 5 % probably)

Hillary Clinton 46%

John McCain 46%

Barack Obama 48%

John McCain 41%

Rasmussen Reports (900 LVs, Feb. 4-7, MOE +/- 4%):

Hillary Clinton 43%

John McCain 46%

Barack Obama 47%

John McCain 42%

Obama does not have the huge reservoir of REALLY ACTIVE dislike that Hillary has.

You can deny it however you wish, but Hillary has a huge problem with VOTERS.

Clinton leadership?

"There are many people who want Clinton leadership back in office because they want people who they know - know how - to fix our country for now and for our future, and get us back in excellent shape again."

Whoa, there's a concept. Clinton leadership? Ha.

During the 8 years of Bill, we had some good times. But the bad things WAY overwhelmed the good.

In American life, you do not get do-overs. Clinton does not get a do-over. He bunged his 8 years by his own personal failure. That gave the VRWC the opening.

We had Clinton leadership once. Once was enough.

100% correct

"--It's stupid trying to compare sexism and racism. It's like asking someone if they would rather have a broken leg or a broken arm. Don't try this because it will get you nowhere."

I am DAMNED if we are going to select the president based on who is more discriminated against. It is wrong wrong wrong to make any decisions based on who DESERVES to gain the POTUS based on prior suffering. That direction is wrong, but is a traditional approach prefered by some - if you have suffered, you gain in Karma. Sort of a buddhist approach, but not one likely to gain favor with the evangelicals.

We do NOT want to select the President by looking for the 5 large wounds of christ or any wounds. We need to select the POTUS based on ability.

We know only one thing

Arguing about sexism vs racism is a moronic exercise. We need to argue about John McCain.

Neither sexism nor racism are important here. John McCain is important.

ANYONE who sits around with their thumb up their butt wondering whether sexism is more important than racism is two tacos short of a full combo platter.

Just sayin'...

I've been away for a bit

Have we settled the racism vs sexism thing? How about angels on pins?

Meanwhile, Barack is WAAAAYY up on the Hill in VA.

A sign of character

"who frequently chose to vote "present" in the IL legislature"

This is the sign of the character of the writer. It demonstrates that the writer is at best lazy, since she/he did not bother to determine the facts. It possibly demonstrates that, like many of obama's critics, the writer is a liar and a distortionist.

Salon published a clear piece last Tuesday or Wednesday, demonstrating the facts here. Those who do not want to look as foolish and puerule as the writer of that sentence above are advised to read that piece.

100 % correct

"I'm honestly appalled at those here who insist that all negative feelings toward Hillary Clinton are purely sexism. The only analog I can think of to this level of intellectual dishonesty is George Bush insisting that anyone who doesn't support the Iraq war hates America."

The Hillary supporters are sensing a problem: Not everyone is as in love with Her Inevitabilityness as they are. Why is this? Sexism, of course.

There are 20-30 reasons to oppose Hillary. But mostly I oppose her because of Bill. Bill will be the eminance grise in the Hillary Admin. He will be the real power. Just like Eva Peron or Christina Kirchner, women can be placed into a position of power as a puppet for their partner.

What will Bill be doing? During his administration, he did a few OK things, and a LOT of crappy stupid things which we all are regretting. NAFTA, triangulation, free trade - these are not Democratic policies.

Florida and Michigan

" Florida's delegates will be Hillary's as are Michigan's"

Well, if that is true, then there will be a huge fight at the convention. This is the ol' Clinton "cheat to win" thing.

Florida and Michigan delegations will be seated if and only if they give no advantage to either side. The fairest thing would be to seat delegations proportional to HRC and BHO standings at the time of the convention. They WILL NOT be allowed to produce a cheating win for either side.

Wow, just WOWOWOW

"this (sic) cacus (sic) system is bunk as you exclude people who have busy lives"

Ah yes, the old lie that OBAMA SUPPORTERS DO NOT WORK. Or, put another way, "them niggers they be shiftless and chicken-stealers."

Let's cut to the chase, OK? If you want to talk about "shiftless niggers and they be chicken-stealers", just go ahead.

I'm an Obama supporter, and I have a job.
