Democrats need to go liberal...for once and for the future...

So what that Hillary Clinton is prepared. Big deal. So she is a politician who has a staff that can organize a campaign. Democrats need for once to go liberal and forget about these middle-of-the-road, do-nothing moderates, who often leave conservative legacies. Like Hillary Clinton's husband. What is the lasting progressive legacy of the Bill Clinton years? Eight years wasted, with global trade that took American jobs and welfare reform that further abused the poor. A Democrat? You surely are joking. If the Democrats are stupid enough to elect a moderate conservative who continues the Iraq War, just as Nixon continued LBJ's war, then the Republican Party will re-emerge from its southern fundamentalist ruination and we progressives will once again wonder if we will EVER live to see a truly liberal, progressive president. The Democratic voters in Iowa and New Hampshire and the other primaries need to realize that, if they want to continue the lame conservatism of the last 40 years which has battered the middle class, forgotten about the poor, and rewarded the rich, then go to the center again. There is a reason that the young generation may not do as well as their parents' generation--it is because moderate and conservative presidents have done nothing for them or their future but bleed them dry of money and blood for ridiculous wars. No one ever tells me anymore that we just can't afford universal health care--they don't tell me that anymore because they have lived through the Iraq

War spending of billions and billions of dollars that could have gone for something better. John Edwards consistently talks about the poor and the problem of poverty. He is one of the few who does. When the economy turns to the south, and it probably will soon following the housing bubble burst, it will be more important than ever that our leadership gives a damn about regular people and has progressive ideas for making America better for ALL. I could give a rat's...well, whisker...about the preparation of Hillary Clinton. If she represents the same dismal record and moderate sell-out thinking that her husband offered, I know I want something better. Edwards/Obama sounds like a good progressive ticket to me. I don't believe the national TV media that go goofy over the Clintons, like they did over the Bushes. I don't believe the Eastern-based polls that put New York candidates ahead. Let's see if American voters want something better...for once and for the betterment of the future. How long do we need to wait?!

Coulter gives mud a bad name...

Ann Coulter deserves a "thumping" from Elizabeth Edwards and from the American public as well who should say to the media, which gives her a soapbox, that they (the media) can do better too for the public discourse and civil debate in American politics. As Coulter has no real expertise to provide, the only reason she's given air time is probably because her mouth draws attention. Coulter reminds me of the spoiled child in the room who has to show-off or do something naughty in order to get attention. So, she says outrageous things in order to get attention and sell books and lower the bar so low that it's hard to see the top of the level of the mud. Coulter is the Paris Hilton of politics. Sensationalism sells, apparently. Do we gain anything by hearing Coulter spout off? Is our knowledge about anything the least bit enhanced? Easy answer: No. And it is not just that Coulter is so unnecessary in the scheme of American life, but it is also about the "enablers" of the media. It must have been that Hardball with Chris Matthews thought there would be a reward of ratings for putting Coulter in front a camera--let's hope not. And then there was Tucker Carlson who, on his TV show, didn't have any problem with Coulter wishing John Edwards had been killed by terrorists. A guy with the name of Tucker, for goodness sakes, should care about civility and words. Wouldn't you think? On one nightly news broadcast, while the exchange between Coulter and Elizabeth Edwards was provided, the mean-spirited remark from Coulter, apparently in finding favor with acts of terrorism that suit her, wasn't part of the broadcast. All Americans needed to hear that remark and then listen to see if any of the Republican presidential candidates in their next debate will happen to have the courage to stand up to one of the worst images (Coulter) barnacled to their political party. Yes, the Republican candidates are even too scared to allow some American soldiers, serving as bullets fly, to actually say they are gay when they are, so it is probably unlikely that they would have the courage to "thump" Coulter, let alone make tougher decisions. Wow, I think Elizabeth Edwards would make a great first lady. She has courage...and integrity. When I listen to Elizabeth Edwards speak, I am inspired by what she has to say. When I listen to her speak, I hear caring and intellect and goodness for a better America for all people.

Original article: Libby spared the clink

Impeach and remove Bush and Cheney...

Enough is enough with this Bush and Cheney bunch of frauds and liars. The American people deserve better. The scandals are too many. The lies are too many. And the justice system shouldn't be jerked around for the benefit of the rich and the powerful. The Libby felony prison-sentence commutation by President Bush, as a final straw concerning a war that continues to kill American soldiers daily, should be met by the people's Congress with impeachment and removal. Enough is enough of a president who has no clue of doing what's right. Please, Congress, with the eager support of the American people, please impeach and remove this unworthy president and vice president. And the sooner, the better. Let integrity be valued and triumphant. Let the first woman president be Nancy Pelosi.
