  • Never call Obama a patriot or patriotic

That is seemingly the right's (Republicans') strategy. McCain didn't even refer to him as an American, only that he and his 'family' have done well in America. He used the term 'family' twice. It seems his handlers have something in mind there, maybe reminding people of a black wife and rainbow ancestry? Very sad. I am ashamed of the politics as played in my country.

Being President is hard work. Hence, vacation is earned. This man has earned my respect. Earning through hard work is not to be misunderestimated.

I will choose to believe you, son. I am assuming your opinion derives from decades of experience and scholarly derivations. Right? No? Yes?

What I really want is BHO elected and our hero McCain not.

I just can't hardly believe the conversation I just had with a man whom I worked with about ten years ago. I hadn't talked with him since then but my distinct memory of him was his political stance against government knowing our private business. He was VERY STRONGLY against it. VERY STRONGLY, almost out of his skin against it. He was somewhat intelligent, also, got promoted to supervisor. A good, well liked, supervisor. Also, for the record: he is Republican, I am a Democrat.

I just called him to get his take on the current 'gov't v.s. personal private things' situation. He seemed very calm. I was shocked and he didn't seem to understand why. He finally said he didn't feel the need to worry because he was a 'wasp', although he didn't say that exactly. He said he believed the gov't would only 'spy' on the ones who deserved it (he said Arabs). I said, what if they are 'americans'? He said if they are 'true' americans, they have nothing to worry about.

I have since a few minutes ago revised my judgement of his intellect and reframed my views of his views in terms of 'party in office' (ten years ago and now). Know what I mean? It is sad, ain't it?

Thanks, JohnnyMM, for acknowledgement of a derelict's comment. And thank you, Jim White, for the federalist papers reference.

And thank you, JamesFinkelstein, for: “Posterity! You will never know, how much it cost the present Generation, to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make a good Use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven, that I ever took half the Pains to preserve it.”

or more appropriately, thank you John Adams.
