some figures, "watch_this_space"
[Read the article: Ricki Lake's "awesome" vagina]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]my last child was born in a fancy hospital, Lenox Hill, east side, NYC with a fancy obstetrian, 19 years ago. insurance paid $3000. that's an increase of 7%/year while inflation is what?, 3% - maybe? who makes the extra money? the hospital? the doctors? malpractice lawyers? it seems ALL are making good money while the LPN's and orderlies make practically nothing. growing up in the sixties, i *never* thought the country would be this way.

it's difficult to know what to believe, VM111111
[Read the article: Condi Rice never looks back]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but as for me i believe you are white - and faking being black. it's obvious what i am - and if you didn't know, i have a *tome* of material to go through. but you've written *one* letter. a special free email just for that handle? that's the inference. the rest is *style* "bed-stuy, do or die"? that sound black to you? no rhythm. no knock. then the view that the *worst* thing rice did was to support the "bush regime" with no empathy for her at all. *that* sound black to you? hey! there's no *unity* nor should there be, but a Gordon Wagner view coming from a brother? nah. just don't believe it. but the subject says it best "i'm sorry mellowtone". preparation for *snide*. that's something *my* people (yea! the jews!) would do, not black people. they are a whole lot straighter. Go ahead, VM111111 (what you get that from? your computer terminal?) talk BLACK, and then we'll ask mellowtone and copelli21 to judge. (i think, by the way, it's DESPICABLE (and not just "daffy"))

OtherLisa, i know it's too late to see this now
[Read the article: Who has the biggest blogosphere?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but you are right, i don't know mandarin. i know english - i also studied it for a decade (from 1st grade through high school) and i learned it well enough so i'll *always* know it. so? why don't they romanize like the japanese did? yes, you couldn't have *everyone* be able to read it (it's a unifying force, for the various dialects). but so what? you could still keep the (stupid) alphabet like the japanese did. you could just have the latin one for the web and the other "non-chinese" (said while spitting). and a program should be easy to translate it. (one set of characters for another). with that, would andrew be able to read or still just eat?(chinese) if so, in the words of a roughneck gambler in a story an old colorado prospector once told me, after said gambler had plunged his knife through the feller's hand, cards, and into the table, 'if'n you ain't got aces in that hand, "i'll beg your pardon" '.

"achilleselbow", sorry about the bete noire
[Read the article: Reason to believe: The Cockburn files, Part 2]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but i cannot let this pass - "This is the same tactic used by Israel to paint its critics as anti-semites" - when and where has "Israel" yes the whole nation or any of its people, done this and to whom? and andrew leonard, you are a promulgator if not an originator. just because this is "Salon's line" doesn't make it any less of a Big Lie.

a small point, but i think a telling one
[Read the article: "Hillary equals France"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]to satirize america's backward healthcare, maher uses "which are both years away from discovering dentistry". he wouldn't say, for instance "universal vaccinations" for instance, because we have a problem with that - and he knows it. it's just that EVERYONE he knows (or is "worth knowing") *has* dental care. if he has a dental problem he gets a crown or an implant. the poor get it *pulled*. (a crown costs, without insurance, from between $600 and $4000, depending on how good you want it to look). eventually the poor have so few teeth that chris matthews can make fun of them as "toothless yokels" - rather than the proverbial "slack-jawed yokels". even the progressive are so distanced from the poor that they haven't a clue as to what their problems are.

more racist than blackface
[Read the article: Condi Rice never looks back]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]the first time i caught you, VM111111, a jew, impersonating a black man, i called you out. drove your screen name off the forum. now i see you're back in another guise. the first time meant a reaction, the second, an alert. so i made a memorable subject to search on for the future. in a way i've made a dossier on you. the more you do this, the more information you give. eventually the noose will tighten around your neck.

achilleselbow
[Read the article: Reason to believe: The Cockburn files, Part 2]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]after all this time, i'm glad you stopped by to read my post. i would have liked it better had you not used it to call me names if i didn't agree with you "if you don't agree, you are a boldfaced liar" - something like "thanking you in advance" - except the reverse. antisemitic means you don't like jews. if someone calls you that, they can be right or they can be wrong. like being called racist or homophobe or sexist. from what it appears to me (i haven't done a statistical survey), it's mostly used by people saying they can't criticize israel for *fear* of being called antisemitic, not that they *actually* were being called antisemitic. it's something like the aforementioned smear - just in case. i remember calling dayenu on that (i seem to recall using the biblical, "fleeing where none pursueth") but you didn't pick up on that. now, in this very post, you call dayenu and me "comrades", that is, we are in a war together. but we are not. we are just coreligionists, concerned with jews but not even friends much less comrades. if there's a war, it must be *your* war. to me, you are antisemitic. that is, not liking us merely because we are jews, feeling we are at war with you. i may be right or i may be wrong. besides, there are all degrees of antisemitism, from dislike to outright murderous rage. if i felt anything like the latter from you, i wouldn't be writing you, would i? but i do feel dislike for us and that is a feeling, and not having anything to do with your argument.
