Hmmmm....

""Faggot" does not equal "San Francisco Liberal," imo."

Being a past resident of SF myself, maybe I'm a little too "in the know", but I find it surprising that anyone wouldn't see the connection between "gay" and "San Fransisco."

It's funny that

in a forun discussion on the hateful Ann Coulter and her mass following of nazi dweebs, shooter would wait until it morphed into a discussion on taxation before chiming in. Such bravery!

RE: seems fair to me

"We have Coulter, you have the NY Times opinion page. Seems fair to me."

Truer words were never spoken. You want Coulter? You have her. And we'll take the NYT opinion page, warts and all, to the bank. One one hand you have Coulter, maybe the most narrow-minded pundit imaginable as your spokesperson, and the rest of us have quite a broad range of opinions--from Krugman and Rich, to Brooks and Friedman. What a brilliant way to illustrate the fact that all the conservatives have left is Coulter's hate speech, and everyone else has the entire NYT opinion page. Perfect!

Who?

Who the hell is Ted Rall? Has he sold as many books as Ann Coulter? Is he on the "Today Show" as often as Ann Coulter? I've never even heard of Ted Rall.

And Bill Maher is NOT a liberal. Conservatives think that because he's "anti-Bush" that means he's a liberal. It doesn't work that way. I'm sure is easy to think in such Manichean terms, but it's inaccurate. Maher is a libertarian. Look it up, it's different than being a liberal.

That's a good Poco

Write your posts so intentionally vague that no one has any idea who you are attacking or defending. Bravo.

When in doubt, just make shit up

"The problem is, there are no high level celebrities in the liberal camp to compare her to, so you gotta work with what you have."

Again, truer words were never spoken. By neatly summarizing Glenn's point, a point you otherwise seem to have completely missed, you have effectively shot your entire "argument" out of the water. That one sentence summarizes everything, really.

"you gotta work with what you have" = "When in doubt, or desperate, just make shit up"

@digby

That's a good one. You're getting all hot-and-bothered over a comic strip, but I'M the one who "needs to get out more." I'll have to write that one down and save it. Sorry I don't have time for "the funnies."

They already have

"It will be interesting to see which way they flip on Obama."

Hasn't Maureen Dowd already referred to Obama as "OBambi"? She has done more than her fair share of emasculation of Democrats, herself. See Kerry and Gore as examples.

Garbage

"But as a point of clarification, let me make it clear that ACU and CPAC do not condone or endorse the use of hate speech."

No, they don't "endorse" hate speech, they just pay loads of money to present it. Year after year.

Tuesday, March 6, 2007 09:22 AM

Moving on...

straight to the impeachment of Bush and Cheney, (at least), please.

Tuesday, March 6, 2007 09:35 AM

After the purge of federal prosecutors last year

by the Bush administration, it's seems they didn't have time to get to Fitzgerald before he began the investigation.

Tuesday, March 6, 2007 09:48 AM

This point bears repeating...

From the statement relesed by CPAC, via War Room:

"...But as a point of clarification, let me make it clear that ACU and CPAC do not condone or endorse the use of hate speech."

If paying Coulter tons of money year after year doesn't constitute an endorsement, then what does? As Glenn has mentioned more than once, CPAC knows EXACTLY what it's getting with Coulter, and they pay her handsomely for her drivel. And the adoring crowd gets what they want, too. It's the best example of an "endorsement" as anyone can reasonably imagine. How dare they release such a duplicitous statement.

Tuesday, March 6, 2007 10:02 AM

I'm not outraged by what Coulter said, either.

I'm outraged that millions of people think just like her, and lap up her bs like hungry kittens. She is paid huge sums of money to spout that crap. THAT is what I'm outraged about. If she were just some lunatic shouting on the street corner, that would be different. But she is on Good Moring America and The Today show quite often.

It's like after the 2004 election, a friend of mine asked me why I was so pissed, "What, are you upest about ONE Republican (Bush)? I answered, "No, I'm upset about the millions who voted for him."

Tuesday, March 6, 2007 11:14 AM

I agree

"Just on a purely psychological level, seeing one of the most powerful Bush figures turn into a convicted felon in a federal court has to be extremely unsettling for the hubristic rulers who long thought they were too powerful to be held accountable for their actions."

I think this is worse news for them, than it is good news for everyone else. At least for me, this is a very small "victory." To date, Libby's obstruction was quite successful, given the fact that Fitzgerals doesn't plan any further indictments. Libby being found guilty of obstruction proves there's way more to this than we'll ever know.

Tuesday, March 6, 2007 12:57 PM

Wow

We've learned new meaning for the words "partisan" and "felon" from our conservative letter writers today.

Tuesday, March 6, 2007 01:20 PM

@Elephantman

"I truly hate Fitzgerald."

Yeah, who appointed that guy, anyway? Oh, wait....

Tuesday, March 6, 2007 01:53 PM

Man oh man

"But...if he had just told the truth to begin with he wouldn't have been convicted of anything since Fitzgerald never brought a case regarding Plame.

This has to do with Libby making a stupid decision based on the witch hunt. If bringing the evil leakers to justice was the goal Armitage would be sitting in jail.

"progressives" are so desperate for the republicans and conservatism to be crushed that they will inflate the importance of anything."

Talk about some textbook authoritarian projection! It's all there, in black & white. Glenn mentioned in an earlier post that this verdict was going to be very hard for these guys to swallow. Lo, and behold the cognitive dissonance! The shifting of blame. We are now to believe that Libby lied and jeopardized his career over nothing!

I really though "joe", Elephantman, et al., would just run off and cry in silence, but here they are, parading their pathologies right before our very eyes. This is truly amazing to watch unfold.
