The Wilson's lawsuit IS "bogus."
And things are going "swimmingly" in Afghanistan.
And bin Laden is "irrelevant." (Unless it's right before an election.)
And Saddam was hiding WMDs.
And Bush is a "compassionate" conservative.
And the economy is "robust."
And nobody ever said there was a connection between al Qaida and Saddam.
Except for Dick Cheney, but who's counting, anyway?
Ah, to live under the umbrella of Bush's authoritarian parallel universe.
His entire political career is based on appealing to voters with a very short and spotty grasp of history.
"Anyone who thought this was going to be a two year adventure was just fooling themselves, the administration included."
You mean, like, all that "mission accomplished" business? You don't care told hold the administration's feet to the fire over that? Or for Rumsfeld's incomprehensibly rosy prediction that it wouldn't last "six months," let alone two years?
"I believe they were honest because they said it all along. People chose to use selective listening so that if it went well they could reap the glory and if it went badly they could point fingers."
You have a lot of nerve accusing anyone else of "selective listening." Bush claimed just last week that "no one" ever said or suggested that there was any sort of link between al Qaida and Saddam. Tim Grieve carefully listed several instances when Cheney had said so in no uncertain terms. Bush's language, as usual, has always been a little murkier, but the truth is that Bush has implied the link many times. Why lie or mislead us in this way unless it was absolutely necessary?
I'm growing very weary of this Machiavelian rationale that the benevolence of the Iraq mission justifies any of the lying and or misleading on the part of the Bush administration. If it was such a great idea and such a noble mission, nobody would've ever had to lie or mislead. If Cheney had any real arguments, he'd debate real people using accurately quoted remarks instead of his lame straw man routine.
"I thought Bush said that no one had said their was a link between Saddam and 9/11?
Saying their is a link between Al Queda and Saddam, which their was, is not the same as saying that there was a link between Saddam and 9/11.
Selective listening at it best from the left."
You are crazy. It's the same thing to say there's a link between al Qaida and Saddam and a link between 9-11 and Saddam. It's 3-card monte games like this that got Bush elected.
Interesting that you chose to ignore my "mission accomplished" dig. I wasn't surprized you'd skip over that part.
From a MArch i, 2006 Zogby poll"
"The poll also shows that 42 percent of the troops surveyed are unsure of their mission in Iraq, and that 85 percent believe a major reason they were sent into war was 'to retaliate for Saddam’s role in the Sept. 11 attacks.'"
Sounds like Bush and Cheney successfully sold the link between Saddam and 9-11, dooesn't it, joe?
That voters will have to "write-in" Shelly Sekula-Gibbs' name on an electronic voting machine. A cumbersome task using a scrolling wheel to hunt and peck for EACH character. Perry's a snake. The Republicans have no chance in that race unless he gets her name on the ballot officially.
In the sense that they are both underestimated due to the perception that they are both intellectual and therefore political lightweights. But in Texas especially, it's precisely that reputation as an anti-intellectual and the lack of political acumen that appeals to the rural, Christian right voting block. The voters' view of Perry, and Bush before that is: "Hey, he's not gonna screw me because he's a) a Christian, and b) he's not smart enough." I think what sped DeLay's demise was the perception that he's smart and politically savvy--in other words "slick"--so the level of trust in him was significantly lower among the Texas populace.
Are the stupid Texas voters getting what they deserve? I guess unfortunately so.
"So if the connection between Saddam and Al Queda equates to Saddam and 9/11, does that mean Saddam was also responsible for the Cole, the first Trade Center bombing and any other Al Queda attacks?
No it doesn't. Which means Saddam and Al Queda doesn't equate to 9/11."
As Republicans are want to do, you are twisting my words. Equating Saddam and 9-11 is the same as equating Saddam and 9-11. I didn't say it was RIGHT to do so, you freak. It's the same thing in the minds of those who voted for Bush. There is voluminous polling data to support that point. The Saddam--alQaida--9-11 connection is a semantic three card monte game that this adminstration has been playing on the minds of the voters in this country for the last five years. It's really dishonest, and betrays the level of contempt they hold for the citizens of this country.
And it's really cowardly for you to just dismiss the fact that 85% of our soldiers in Iraq think they are there as retribution for 9-11. How do you account for that? That is a STUNNING statistic. It shows the depth of the authoritarian hold Bush and Cheney have over a great many people in this country.
who cares what Shinseki thinks? His name sounds funny and is harder to spell than it is to pronounce. What self-respecting Republican would trust anything that he has to say? Now Snow... that's a real name. You can trust a guy with a name like that. Snow. What a nice white name. Very Republican.
