hmm

Wouldn't it be nice if we lived in a world where only men had careers? I think this woman would be so happy there.

Thursday, April 10, 2008 06:15 PM

Has sexism helped or hindered Clintons campaign?

It seems most people here are saying that it has hurt her campaign but is this true? There has been great support for her only because she is a woman. If you consider both of those things is it a net positive or negative. As far as I can tell without quantifying both variables you can't really come to a conclusion.

Sexism

"I pinpoint sexism for a living. You'd think I'd be able to find an example. And I hate to rely on this hokey notion that there's some woman's way of knowing, and that I just fucking know. But I do. I just know."

The only sexism here is where some women perceive any attack on a woman as being an attack on all women. Hillary has benefited from this sexism.

The real question is has the pro female vote made as much as an impact as the anti female vote? Until analysis takes into account both these functions it all just seems like bias to suggest that Hillary has been hurt or helped overall by sexism.

Sunday, April 13, 2008 08:13 PM

umm

I meant voting for someone on the basis of sex is sexism regardless if the person who benefits is a woman or man.

Sunday, April 13, 2008 08:28 PM

err

women have actually said they are voting for hillary because she is a woman.

Sunday, April 13, 2008 09:06 PM

yes

Yes it is racist to vote for someone just because they are black or white.

Sunday, April 13, 2008 09:43 PM

Sexism is hard to pinpoint?

Sounds more like confirmation bias. You want to find sexism you can't find obvious sexism but it must be there so you "feel" its there.

How can you argue with someone's feelings?

Sunday, April 13, 2008 09:49 PM

Why is pro hillary sexism better than anti hillary sexism?

Voting for her because she is a woman is sexism it's just as bigoted as not voting for her because she is a woman.

Sunday, April 13, 2008 10:23 PM

If hillary were a man

The fact that she lied about military service (sniper incident) would have forced her out of the race long ago

Sunday, April 13, 2008 11:04 PM

Sexism has hurt Hillary

but it has also helped her. Notice all these women who have said they are voting for her because she is a woman. Until you can prove that sexism has hurt Hillary more than it has helped you haven't shown anything...

Sunday, April 13, 2008 11:27 PM

The more rational the argument

the more obvious you are that you are hiding your inherent sexism!

Sunday, April 13, 2008 11:55 PM

You can't have a reasoned debate

when the article is absent any proof of mass sexism apart from "feelings".

Monday, April 14, 2008 12:11 AM

BUT BUT BUT BUT

Voline those ration arguments are just covers for your rampant hatred of all women.

Monday, April 14, 2008 12:26 AM

All your rational arguments mean nothing

since they hide the sexism!

Monday, April 14, 2008 06:07 PM

boy crisis

is as absurd as the wage gap.

Monday, April 14, 2008 07:19 PM

now i see where you are comming from

"It's social science after all and not the scientific method."

Damn that patriarchal scientific method.

Original article: Indians prefer boys

I do believe the opposite happens in the west.

Instead of aborting foetus' with the wrong sex technology is used to only implant embryos with the desired sex. According to some reports this is being used mainly to have girls.

Unfortunately I can't find those articles at this time.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 09:33 PM

Argument inconsistencies.

"They can 1) wear a condom or 2) abstain (from that particular activity, on that occasion)."

So you won't mind anti-abortionists using that same argument then?

Wednesday, April 23, 2008 06:03 PM

So no abortions then?

If you want an abortion you should of insisted on using a condom. This is why its a bad argument. Its slut shamming to insist women take responsibility for their actions but men must always take responsibility for their actions even if its not there choice.

Her body her choice her responsibility.

Wah? what about the menz...

The entirety of broadsheet can be summed up as "WAAAAH WHAT ABOUT THE WOMENZ?!!?!?!?!"

Why is it wrong for men to act like this in regards to male problems in the same way women do for female problems?

Friday, May 2, 2008 03:51 PM

the reason they don't allow women in combat

is because women are given a lesser physical requirement to join the army. If you allowed women to be in combat you would lower the average physical ability of those in combat.

How do you fix this?

If you have the same physical tests for both men and women there would be even fewer women in the army than now.

Original article: Grand Theft misogyny

math

do you think that the violence in gta 4 is spread evenly between the genders or does it focuses on mainly on one gender?

You may be surprised but the majority of the people who die in gta 4 are men. Why is it misogyny if what %5 of violence is directed at women?

Original article: What does Hillary want?

Sexism

Is calling a guy a jerk as bad as calling a woman a bitch?

Tuesday, May 13, 2008 07:36 PM

Why is a woman abondaning a child in a hospital ok?

But a man abandoning a child with its mother means he should pay child support? Shouldn't the woman who abandons a child at a hospital be forced to pay child support? Isn't it patronizing that women are given way outs but men are not?

Wednesday, May 14, 2008 05:05 PM

Aka smith

Problem is though that women who unilaterally decide to give up there child using the anonymous laws without the consent of the father are not punished. If this were to be applied equally wouldn't that mean that a man could just take his child without the knowledge of the mother leave it at a hospital and also receive no punishment?

Wednesday, May 14, 2008 05:06 PM

You are right

he would of called a male reporter pale or buddy or chum or something....

Wednesday, May 14, 2008 09:44 PM

err

"Absolutely! I went to engineering school, and there is something wrong with most of those guys. They are weird and smelly in high school, never learn to be social, and then think women should fuck them because they make 60k. I feel very bad for female/gay/black engineers, and my heart breaks for them. I might have greatly enjoyed that type of work, but the prospect of being harangued by men who hated me because I wouldn't fuck them wasn't very enticing. Even for good money."

Misandry much?

Generalising about female engineers = bad. Generalising about male engineers good.

Frankly you sound as socially dysfunction as the guys you complain about.

Friday, May 16, 2008 04:31 PM

ok then

if they had just stuck to killing men no one here would have any objections then?
