It's an article that jumps all over the globe to give us economics 101 about the sex-trade industry, except, at the end of the quaint little rant, Flory decides to give us the REAL ZINGER: prostitutes are being exploited and earn even less now.
wow. The profundity is blowing me away. the economy is in the shitter, and people are earning less. wow. I can't wait to see the follow-up. Maybe it'll be something like this: "American prostitutes take Euros". And she'll make me read an entire 800 words before before she gets to the point, which will be something so insultingly obvious, that I will yet again lament the time I spent reading it.
Move along citizens, she's coughed up another turd. She's trying to be provocative, and comes up short yet again.
I think she's like 1 for 9 with me this year on anything interesting.
One WANTS to try and like her work, but it just doesn't measure up. Her credits and such would make it seem like she could write a consistently good blurb, article, or even advertorial, but jesus christ my 5 year old daughter has a better grip on her feminine power and can write better and more honestly than this clown.
Have a great Weekend.
wow. people should be taught the same things. YAWN.
move along citizens, nothing to see here.
You forgot Anne Coulter. She'd happily step in to be the shill if Rush died of heart failure (not a big stretch there).
People seem to have a lot of pent-up anger about one man's slightly humorous search for a car.
It's odd how the mini-van lost out in the "use of space" comparison, because generally speaking, they are just amazingly designed for safety and day-to-day hauling.
And also, I think the issue isn't Miles per year, it's Miles per PERSON...if the only time he fires up his automobile is for hauling an entire family around, what's it to ya?
And for all those jack-offs complaining about breeders, they should try to fit 2 car seats and a friend into ANY car that doesn't have a third row. Impossible and unfair to the people involved. There's also safety requirements for children up to 7-8 years old with respect to car seats, and we can't just "throw a bunch of kids" in the back of a sedan or station wagon - it's illegal and quite unsafe. Each human being in a car deserves the benefit of a safety belt or safety device like a car seat.
I liked this article, even though it could've been fleshed-out some more with details about how the comparison between 2 cars was made.
While you're looking for "upskirts" at PhoneBin, you'll have to search at least 10 pages before finding one. During your search, you'll be subjected to no less than 90% of the pictures being young women baring their breasts or bottoms, sometimes naked, sometimes in lingerie, in a mirror or otherwise. Talk about ridiculous.
This is another example of trying to stir some contreversy up, and using stupid evidience. How about just walking into your local mall?
The other day, I was at a mall, (and I was there to shop, not look up or at skirts). However, I went up the escalator behind some young "ladies" and the skirts were so short, I had to consciously put my head down so I wouldn't be labeled a "perv"
Talk about mixed messages...if your skirt is too short to go up an escalator without the person behind you getting an eyeful, maybe you shouldn't wear something like that. I was almost hoping someone would take a picture, and send it to their parents...
However, admittedly, there should be some kind of moral education for young people that explains how rude it is to be invading someone's personal space and snapping pictures of their knickers. But it just seems obvious.
One of my personal "most read" columns in Salon. You and Leonard are what keeps me funding my yearly premium.
I hope the changes work out for the best. Thanks for the consistently interesting articles and thoughts.
why an advertised happy ending massage is sexual exploitation. It's prostitution, but, isn't that a consent-based business transaction? If someone's doing it against their will, then sure, there's a problem, but I agree with the article. Banning the ads isn't going to be any kind of help for the disenfranchised sex worker who's been brought to this country in some sort of slave arrangement. If anything, it's just going to make it harder for am New York to put out a free paper.
He said it time and time again, it's language, and the PC thought police are going to rob the society of any flavor it has left.
everyone sucks.
Housework doesn't get you laid. Hormones get you laid. Having no kids (a.k.a. lots of free time in the morning/noon/night) gets you laid.
It's nice for ANYONE, male or female, to take a night off and be pampered and taken care of. That's why restaurants and babysitters exist, so partners who wind up being "stay at home" parents can also get time off from doing those "chores" that are part of their role.
This is another ridiculous sociological study. Are there no more relevant subjects on which to spend budgetary dollars anymore? Have all the good theses been snatched up and written about?
Talk about non-news. Go back to work people...nothing to see here.
