Original article: Bugs in your bed

Bed Bugs- vicious problem... bring back DDT!!!

It's time to re-evaluate the ban on DDT and get rid of these pests.

Related to the Stink Bug, once you have an infestation, that smell will never leave your mind.

It has nothing to do with cleanliness, and everything to do with BLOOD, ACCESS and modern insecticides which are marginally effective against this bug.

Mine were hiding in the cracks between a mirror behind my bed and the molding, as well as cracks in the wood flooring. I am highly reactive to the bites, with them literally giving me a headache from the itchiness and discomfort.

How did they get there? Pigeons in NYC nest on or about Air Conditioners and carry bed bugs to new and interesting destinations.

I wouldn't wish an infestation on anyone... it's horrific... I slept with the lights on, and could still feel them crawling on my scalp.

How did I solve it? I used "flea bombs" double the recommended dose, and that seemed to put them on the run for awhile, and then I just moved out.

"Psychological" techniques for "picking up" women

The techniques employed by mystery and his friends aren't really malignant psychological tricks. They're a response to social taboos and auras about the pick-up game. Why shouldn't people respond to the environment around them? In this case, it's about how to even the playing field.

So one of the techniques is tearing down someone's aura of self-esteem to bring them to your level...a woman has never perpetrated a mind-game like THAT before...

More likely, what these gentlemen are doing is using simple NLP techniques which create more open lines of communication between two people. Whether sincere or not, it can accelerate the feeling of connection or security with the person they're talking to. When applied by someone who is actually sincerely attracted to the person they're communicating with, it can be an amazing way to establish a connection and create a spark between two people.

The other problem with the response to this is that you're not giving any credit to the women. You're acting as if they have no mind of their own to deduce whether the person talking to them is sincere. You're acting as if they would be so stupid as to fall for any of these tricks. The bottom line is if someone isn't aware of how they're communicating, and winds up sleeping with someone because they were insulted and their self-esteem was shattered, well, maybe they deserve to be where they are.

There have been legions of books on how to pick up women, with various NLP and sleight of hand language techniques. I'm betting that there will never be any recognition of the techniques, language, etc. because in the end, it's the way people WANT to be communicated with.

Give your kids a little credit.

If you can't teach them the difference between rampant consumerism and how to be a good kid, i feel for you.

my daughter loves High School Musical, but only because I played the soundtrack for her. She doesn't even care about the movie really. She's seen it, but it isn't an addiction for her. Zac Effron is cute. She thinks that the love story is cute. Sorry folks, but unless you've been culturally dead, there's been a bunch of iterations of this story that have captured the popular culture, from Romeo and Juliet to West Side Story to The Brady Bunch.

I like hearing my daughter sing along and enjoying herself. It doesn't always have to be authentic folk music or whatever you culture nazi's are promoting lately.

Finally, I also like teaching her that it's a movie, and it's not real. It's a story. Fantasy. Not real. And those little breaks in the action aren't real either. She's starting to get it..."Daddy, that's not real, it's just an Ad right? That toy can't REALLY do that...right?"

Give 'em some credit.

Garters...1950's housewife...what?

Housework doesn't get you laid. Hormones get you laid. Having no kids (a.k.a. lots of free time in the morning/noon/night) gets you laid.

It's nice for ANYONE, male or female, to take a night off and be pampered and taken care of. That's why restaurants and babysitters exist, so partners who wind up being "stay at home" parents can also get time off from doing those "chores" that are part of their role.

This is another ridiculous sociological study. Are there no more relevant subjects on which to spend budgetary dollars anymore? Have all the good theses been snatched up and written about?

Talk about non-news. Go back to work people...nothing to see here.

Where's George Carlin when you need him.

He said it time and time again, it's language, and the PC thought police are going to rob the society of any flavor it has left.

everyone sucks.

Original article: NOW: No more "massage" ads

not clear about

why an advertised happy ending massage is sexual exploitation. It's prostitution, but, isn't that a consent-based business transaction? If someone's doing it against their will, then sure, there's a problem, but I agree with the article. Banning the ads isn't going to be any kind of help for the disenfranchised sex worker who's been brought to this country in some sort of slave arrangement. If anything, it's just going to make it harder for am New York to put out a free paper.
