You captured my ambivalent support, my sometimes maddened frustration and my genuine admiration for this remarkable woman.
I too will cherish the memories of Matthews, et al screeching to the heavens.
I am ready to support Obama enthusiastically-
But goddamn, she did it.
I am taking exception to Obama as the first "black" president. It harkens back to the old "one-drop" rule. Obama is half white. He should correctly be called the first bi-racial or multi-racial president. I hope.
I know someone who has a cell phone jammer-totally illegal, but he takes it to the movies and turns it on before the credits roll, says it's fun to see.
He also turns it on when he is stuck in traffic. Everyone tries to figure out what's wrong with the phone at first, and then, like clockwork, traffic starts moving again.
The national polls mean nothing. It's all going to come down to Ohio, again.
Or more specifically, a winning combination of OH, MI, IN, PA and possibly Florida. (Good ol' Florida). We don't need all of them to win, but we do need a majority combination.
If I were running the Obama campaign, I would LIVE in those states and venture out to the safe ones on occasion.

To high heaven. Another good ol' American patsy with mental problems, acts alone, and conveniently commits suicide.
Had enough yet?
I was so intrigued by the video when I saw it last year. I remember one of the women was a grandmother who had raised her daughter's son as an infant. The the daughter got married and the family moved the family to Australia.
Grandma had a replica of her grandson made to cuddle. The video shows her unwrapping him and it really was moving to see how emotionally important it was to her.
Grandpa was pretty creeped out, "looks like a corpse", but he was sweet to go along with it.
Another woman loved to treat pretend it was real and dress it up (I think she was the one with the pram in the market)-she was about 40 and didn't seem emotionally capable of handling a real child. But isn't it nice she knows that and cuddles a doll?
Another mother had 4 or 5 kids, couldn't have anymore, and just missed having a baby around the house. I was riveted, I tellya.
Are you freaking kidding me!? Does this woman even KNOW any black people??
Ohio will go for McCain. So will Florida. Pennsylvania will be this year's Ohio. McCain is going to fight for it. I was worried about Michigan if McCain picked Romney, but I think it's safe.
It's going to come down to who gets PA. You heard it here first.
Let us not forget, Hillary went on the show and did quite well. He was actually pretty nice to her. I think Bill likes to hang out with the superstars, so he will play nice, while asking hard questions.
I'm no fan of the man, myself, but the Hillary interview was a home run for her.
I could barely watch. I HATED her. I hope that a lot of other people do to...
I supported Hillary because I had a feeling that the country was not ready for a black man named Barack Hussein Obama. I grew up in Alabama, I now live in Georgia, and as a life long dem, either candidate would have been fine with me.
But I KNEW it would end up like this. I am crazy about Obama, and I will proudly cast my vote for the first black president. But do not kid yourselves. This is still a very racist country.
And spare me the "just not THIS black man" bullshit. If eight years of Dubya, economy in the shitter, stupid war still going, and McCain (really??), coupled with this vapid, corrupt Palin woman don't make a dem pull the dem lever, then THAT is a racist.
Ohio will go for McCain, as will Florida. As I have said before it will come down to PA. Our only hope, if we can keep a certain combination of smaller states. If Obama wins PA, we'll all be staying up late waiting for the New Mexico returns.
I would love to be proven wrong.
Coaches? Quarterbacks? FAKE TV PRESIDENTS? This makes us "ready" for a black president? Are you freaking serious?
And I used to be a Hillary supporter. I am appalled at the Hillary folks who are attempting to dance on Obama's grave. How dare you be so flippant about the future of this country. You play right into the republicans hands. What's wrong with you?
They're like the Marx Brothers, right? Except the Marx brothers were from Russia, right? Right??
Shut up and put a little joy in your day--
Mai Fayvrit-clik on sig!
I have been a subscriber for many years, and a reader for years before that. Did you "rod up azz", (yes, epic win), folks just join for the election?
Before Glenn Greenwald, (secret boyfriend), and Joan Walsh, there was lefty politics and all the marshmallow fluff you could choke down with a Dr. Pepper.
Remember when Salon had "The Scoop"? NO? It was our very own Hollywood gossip column. Did you faint yet? That column was discontinued, and not because a bunch of hi-falutin subs complained, but because the web became flooded with gossip websites. Salon could use the bandwidth for other things.
Salon evolves, remember "Mothers who Think?" Pretentious much? I was a mom who thunk and I hated that shite.
SO! Move along N00bz--Salon and her trusty readers will be here long after you snort your sub cancellation and and go back to reading Balzac or whatever on the interwebs. KTHXBAI!
Here we go--you think the cat thing got letters?
