Ha Ha
[Read the article: Ellen, top Gun]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I didn't even have to view the video to see that it isn't Ellen. I don't have a clue who this Gunnar person is though. Is it a he or a she?

A little late but...
[Read the article: Think your birth control will always be covered? Think again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]For reference it's bill S.1955
You can read it at http://tinyurl.com/rx4re

Wow
[Read the article: Another front in the abortion war]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The first thing I'd ask any doctor who fed me that line of malarky would be "Just where did you get your medical degree?" The second would be "do you actually believe that crap?"

He returns
[Read the article: Don't let South Dakota get you down!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Brightstar, I wondered where you were. I couldn't imagine you'd let all these gender related items go by without your "oh whoa is me" take on it all. So explain to me how women have all the power in this issue. SD had banned all abortions. Women have no power.

Tilting of his head
[Read the article: Marching with Cheney]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In a post-shooting, post-FOX news interview column, Molly Ivins wrote the following about Cheney: "His head still tilts over more to the right when he lies."
I'd never noticed, but will keep a look out for that tell.

Starbuck's motivation
[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I can't for the life of me understand why Starbuck went to New Caprica; it seems blatantly out of character to me. I'd have thought she'd be the last off Galactica"
I think that is something we'll learn more about in the next season. If you recall, she was very reluctant to call Apollo on the ship to ask about antibiotics for her dying man. There was some small comment about something that had happened, as if it put a rift between the two of them. Then when she did make the call, Apollo's girlfriend seemed less than thrilled that it was Starbuck. My guess is that something occured during the missing year that pulled them apart and I suspect we'll learn more about it next season.

Remake of a Ripoff?
[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Well, I can only answer for myself. I hated the original BG (only watched a few eps) and I don't know what show you think it ripped off (Star Trek?). Basically, it's a new show for me. I love it. There was one ep I hated for it's brutality, but then I was drawn back the next ep.

Childish
[Read the article: During the blizzard, I refused to shelter my friend]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think both the LW and the "friend" are behaving badly. He's whining to all their mutual friends & demanding an apology or he won't be friends. She's fretting about it and writing to an advice columnist after turning away a friend in need. It's clear that both of these people are "me, me, me" types.
She made her choice & should live with it or make amends if that is what's important to her. He should simply move her from "friend" to the "acquaintance" category and let it go.
This is one of the many things wrong with this country. People feel too entitled.

Alternate universe
[Read the article: Democrats run and hide -- literally -- from censure resolution]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Do you ever get the feeling that you're living in some sort of alternate universe? Everything "looks" as it should, but nothing is quite right.

out of touch
[Read the article: Would you buy a used car from this man?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Reminds me of the old "how much is a loaf of bread" question.

Procrastination
[Read the article: How do I overcome the inertia?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The procrastination the LW is living with is the product of a perfectionistic mind. Striving for perfection can hamper decision making. One gets into the mind games that the LW describes: which of the many choices should I make, how can I live up to my potential, etc. Start reading about it & learn. You'll eventually figure a way out. In the end, any choice puts you on a path of discovery about yourself and that's what it's all about in the end.
On a pragmatic note, don't quit a job without another source of income lined up, even if you are living with your parents.

signing statements
[Read the article: Signing away the Patriot Act]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Are signing statements legal? Not that this guy worries about legalities. I'd never heard anything about them prior to his use of it on the torture bill. If they are legal, then what's the point of making laws at all? The President basically gives himself totalitarian power with his signing statements.

mistake?
[Read the article: A portrait of the blogger as a young plagiarist]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"it's not clear whether those plagiarism revelations will be enough to end the right-wing blogger's MSM career. His defenders may say Domenech was only a college student when he made those mistakes."
Just to add to the discussion, I want to point out that plagiarism is not a "mistake" . It's a conscious decision to steal. A judgement call and a very, very bad one. the word mistake implies something like transposing two numbers as you write them down. It's done without thought. Plagiarism ususally takes thought & work. As some have pointed out already, in school it's grounds for an F and sometimes more serious punishment.
Thanks for the terrific article, Joe.

Lacking any depth
[Read the article: Dropping shopping]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Generally, I enjoy articles that delve into human psychology, the why we do the things we do kind of stuff. And I thought that was what this would be, but, sadly, it wasn't. It was shallow. It was a young woman's diary of how she gave up shopping for 12 days. Coulda been a blog, but as an article it lacked much of use. Actually, it's exactly the kind of article I expect to find in "women's" magazines, which is why I don't buy them, although I do read them at the hair dresser's.

Booty & boobies on the Boob network
[Read the article: Stealing booty]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I saw another similar shot over the weekend. It was during a money show on FOX & they showed a totally unrelated close up of a woman's breasts (she was wearing a sweater). It had absolutely NOTHING to do with what was being discussed on the show.

DeLay
[Read the article: DeLay: Threatened judges still don't "get it"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tim, that last line was great.
As for DeLay, what exactly does he mean by that last comment? Yes, there are three branches of government, and it's something that his leader doesn't get. The judges are doing their job just fine. If his Xian extremist base doesn't want their plug pulled then all it takes is a living will, but keep their noses out of other people's decisions.
