Good luck to him on recovering his health. I know what cancer is like.
BTW, I've never owned an Apple product.
Anybody watch this week's new episode of TLC's "17 Kids & Counting?" It was the wedding episode.
"Now everyone's talking about it,..."
This is the first I've heard of it.
Reminds me of a couple years ago when M. Malkin stalked the family with the young boy (G. Frost) who appeared in the SCHIP piece. She literally peered into their windows and declared that their kitchen was too nice to be using SCHIP for their disabled son's health care.
For those who are asking, a "Destination Wedding" is one for which everyone has to travel and the destination plays a major role in the wedding by being beautiful or exotic. It is not a destination wedding just because some attendees have to travel to get there.
It seems pointless to just post Beck's poems. It would be nice to have the authors put this into a context.
I don't follow sports and I still have read King regularly because he's a good writer. I'll miss this column. Good luck to you.
Thanks for this article that took me down memory lane. I had just graduated from high school when all this took place.
I'm not a lawyer, but I attended a class last night on probate. One of the many things I learned is that named beneficiares supersede a will. I wonder if that is the technicality the LW refers to. A life insurance policy that has a named beneficiary goes to that person(s) no matter what the will says. An investment account with a named benefiary goes to that person(s) no matter what the will says. Etc. I didn't know this and if I wrote a will I would have presumed my wishes would be carried out, even if I had named beneficiares.
Lawyers can be very useful. Specifically get one who deals with probate issues regularly.
As the attorney who gave this class said, perfectly nice people can get very strange when it comes to money.
Thanks for this stellar work, Marcy. And good for Salon for publishing it.
I'm not sure it will make much difference. I, personally, get bored with the letter writers who just talk to each other and the ones who post again & again & again and don't actually say anything. I can scroll through this series of letters and read the same names repeating and offering nothing to the topic. But, that's why I like the scroll feature.
How boring & typical. All the same people arguing with each other about something other than the topic of the original post.
The only part of of So You Think You can Dance that I like are the auditions. Raw dancing, raw talent. Comments can be annoying. I hit the mute button as soon as it looks like Mary's going to let loose with one of her screams. Nigel was completely clueless with the two men dancing as a ballroom couple.

Bravo. This is the network that has brought us 4 Real Housewives series and now they're advertising something called Miami Social that looks like a slightly more grown up version of the Prep School show.
I remember loving Bravo when I first got cable about 15 years ago. It sure has changed.
Apparently the Governor's "exotic" sans family vacation was more important to him than being with his family on Father's Day. Not to mention that his wife claimed she had no idea where he was, though she wasn't worried about him.
Cary and a lot of others are offering good advice. All I have to say is:
1. use birth control everytime.
2. don't give up your an education for a boyfriend. It's not a good trade-off.
Figure something out. If you leave home, don't stop school. Education enhances your future. Think long-term.
In addition to making important decisions that affect your life, you are being a role model for your younger sister.
Josh Marshall at TPM put up a post today stating he is looking to hire 7 new editioral staffers; some in NYC, some in DC. http://tiny.cc/Jg3Rz
Good luck.
I'm surprised it took nine letters for someone to ask the question that I was waiting for. HeavyG asked it.
There is a difference. Having an abortion is ending the prospect of having a child. Carrying a fetus for nine months, giving birth, and then giving the baby up for adoption is acutally giving up a child. During those nine months of physical attachment the woman has developed an emotional attachment, too.
I thought Margaret Mitchell wrote "Gone with the Wind." Or was that something Cashill challenged also.
Geenius at work: The answer to your question is in Mr. Kessler's answer to the 2nd question. "The truth is if we didn't have other income from teaching and writing it'd be very hard to do this, certainly in the way we do it, which is seasonally and small-scale."
speaking of making up stories....I tuned in to Chris Matthews last night to see if he was still talking about Michael Jackson. Someone was filling in (recognized the face but couldn't recall the name). I sat throug a piece on why the Prez likes golfing so much. He said their theory is that he can sneak a smoke without any reporters or helicopters. He then admited that no one knows if this is true, it's jut their theory. He actually spent several minutes on this.
Ugh.
Uhhh, I think she's saying there's a strong cultural influence on the decisions women make of their clothing choices.
Linney, you need to learn to spell. The "ironic" spelling is so over.
