The name doesn't make sense. It's trying to name a subset of mothers, but it's not accurate. Aren't all mothers that by choice? Even if the pregnancy wasn't a choice, but an accident, carrying the pregnancy to term is a choice. In the US. Theoretically. I know there will be opinions offered that not everyone gets to choose for various reasons, but certainly the options exist.
Listening is hard work, ya know.
It is always good to read Glenn Greenwald's clear thinking on these horrific issues.
Interesting that Glenn Beck can get away with using the fa**** word but Washington gets tons of press. CNN just defended Beck's use & his explaination that it's just a "naughty word."
I love reading the updates to the trial. Keep it up.
And I see the War Room has a new neocon voice with us. Welcome to Q-bert.
I have to admit that I felt the letter to be very familiar. We've seen similar issues posed before. But what made this worthwhile was Cary's response. Thank you, Cary.
You have to keep in mind that a lot of people don't do their own research into a topic. If the MSM write up something questioning the integrity or qualifications of Wilson based on "his wife sent him" then some readers will immediately write him off in the minds as credible.
If you want to read the Op-Ed piece written by Wilson you'll find it here:
http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0706-02.htm
And for the commentor claiming Wilson said he'd been sent by the VP & reported to the VP,please read these paragraphs from the Op-Ed.
"In February 2002, I was informed by officials at the Central Intelligence Agency that Vice President Dick Cheney's office had questions about a particular intelligence report. While I never saw the report, I was told that it referred to a memorandum of agreement that documented the sale of uranium yellowcake — a form of lightly processed ore — by Niger to Iraq in the late 1990's. The agency officials asked if I would travel to Niger to check out the story so they could provide a response to the vice president's office.
Before I left Niger, I briefed the ambassador on my findings, which were consistent with her own. I also shared my conclusions with members of her staff. In early March, I arrived in Washington and promptly provided a detailed briefing to the C.I.A. I later shared my conclusions with the State Department African Affairs Bureau. There was nothing secret or earth-shattering in my report, just as there was nothing secret about my trip.
Though I did not file a written report, there should be at least four documents in United States government archives confirming my mission. The documents should include the ambassador's report of my debriefing in Niamey, a separate report written by the embassy staff, a C.I.A. report summing up my trip, and a specific answer from the agency to the office of the vice president (this may have been delivered orally). While I have not seen any of these reports, I have spent enough time in government to know that this is standard operating procedure. "
It seems to me that the real issue here is that the woman entered into a semi-committed relationship based on a deception. Heretige & culture are just fluff around the edges. She moved in with a man who is not committed to her. The only solution is to move out & see where it goes from there. Find out what he's willing to do to keep her in his life.
I've never read the work of the two bloggers in question so I can't comment on their firing. But I can say with confidence that I never take anything from Malkin, Donohue, or even The National Review say or write seriously. From my perspective, this is an issue of consider the source.
Crooks and Liars has audio of Glenn's stint on Colmes show last night.
Contrary to what Jonah and his anonymous soldier claim this is not complaining, it's criminal negligence:
Behind the door of Army Spec. Jeremy Duncan's room, part of the wall is torn and hangs in the air, weighted down with black mold. When the wounded combat engineer stands in his shower and looks up, he can see the bathtub on the floor above through a rotted hole. The entire building, constructed between the world wars, often smells like greasy carry-out. Signs of neglect are everywhere: mouse droppings, belly-up cockroaches, stained carpets, cheap mattresses.
I just have to say that I have no idea what "no name given" is going on about. What does that little rant have to do with this piece on women's heart health?
"On the eve of the Academy Awards, he spoke with Salon..."
Are the Academy Awards tomorrow (Thursday 2/22)?
My question is: is he gone because he's taking the hit for the conditions at Walter Reed? or is he gone because he came out and said improvements need to be made & will be made (thus admitting problems)?
I suspect the later, because we all know that Pres. Bush rewards incompetence and punishes honesty.
Maybe Gibson's viewers are clamoring for endless, mindless coverage of the Smith insanity, but I seriously doubt anyone believes that the majority of Americans want to be bombarded with this stuff.
No one has mentioned this so I will...have you been invited to any bridal showers? If so, then I'd expect an invitation, otherwise back away. My guess is that the MOB is highly stressed at this point. Once the wedding is over I'd then make an effort to reaffirm the friendship. You'll know at that point if there is a friendship there or not.
