I tried to watch, got through the first 30 minutes and then tuned back in a half dozen times to see what was going on.
First & foremost, I couldn't get past the camera work...all that jittery old fashioned docu style camera work. That alone gave a huge indication that they wanted viewers to believe they were looking at on the run documentary footage. The kind where the camera person is chasing after the action to get it on film, missing sometimes, etc. I felt seasick after 30 minutes. It was incredibly annoying. I've seen my share of real docus. When they aren't using tripods, they manage to handhold cameras and still get a steady shot most of the time.
In the parts I saw, many scenes went on too long.
The Nightline piece afterwards was good.
I can't wait for 9/12.
My advice will be of little use, but I feel like joining in with the crowd today & adding my thoughts. I, myself, will not travel for weddings. If it requires more than 3 hours driving or any time flying, I don't go. I send my regrets and maybe a gift, if I really like the couple (Miss Manners says that gifts are just that...gifts, not requirements; a note of congratulations, on the other hand, is important).
Your life is your own, to choose to use as you wish. There are enough real obligations and issues in life; it's not worth the angst over something like this.
"Rep. Mark Foley has just checked himself into alcohol rehab..."
Ah yes, the tried and true get out of jail free card.
BTW, we dems in NY29th are trying hard to replace Kuhl with Eric Massa. http://www.massaforcongress.com/
The Washington Post piece by Howard Kurtz states how Brian Ross got the IMs after the initial email messages were made public last week. He (Ross) said that shortly after he posted about it on his blog, he received emails from former pages with the material. So it sounds like this stuff came straight from the sources, not through any media or policital types. I wonder what Hastert would like done with those pages who held onto this info for so long.
I bet George Allen is breathing a huge sigh of relief about now.
As a Dem, I'd have preferred to see his boss take the fall, not him. This is just Reynold's attempt to placate the questions he's getting about his involvment. He now thinks he can claim he's done the right thing...again.
I tuned into Katie Curic last night to see what she was reporting on. Just at that moment she stated that last night's Free Speech thing (this guy) had caused a lot of stir. I thought there might actually be follow up to the referred to segment, but instead she directed people to the CBS website where we could engage in the ongoing "lively" discussion. Then she moved on and I turned the channel.
Interesting. So this is what the Republicans sound like when they don't have an offical talking points memo to work from. I like it.
I just this on Think Progress:
Hastert has cancelled his fundraisers over the next two weeks, according to an MSNBC reporter:
[Hastert] has canceled all of his fundraisers. You know, he was bragging recently that he was gonna hit, it was 34 districts in 30 days to do fundraisers. He has canceled all of his fundraisers for this week and for next week. That is big.
I've always enjoyed Ray Liotta's work but was bored with Smith. I keep waiting for Jericho to turn into something good. As for Men in Trees, it just reminded me of how very much I miss Northern Exposure (when Joel was still there).
The season opener of BSG on the other hand, was fantastic, although they should keep in mind that "next week's previews" sometimes kill the suspense of that cliffhanger moment of the just watched ep.
Are they saying that Ralston was the one person behind the 458 WH contacts? That's absurd.
BTW, speaking of Abramoff, Bill Moyers had a 1 1/2 hour program on the Abramoff wheeling & dealing on PBS last week called "Capitol Crimes". It's well worth watching.

Jackdavis.org works fine for me.
You can see the Davis ad at Buffalo Pundit at this link (Just scroll up).

Also, just read this from Buffalo Pundit (Buffalo, NY is in Erie County):
"John McCain was supposed to come and be the keynote speaker at an upcoming Erie County Republican Committee fundraiser, but he unexpectedly canceled yesterday. The excuse given was “scheduling conflict”.
“Scheduling conflict” is French for “don’t want to be seen within 100 miles of Tom Reynolds”.
McCain’s replacement will be the guy who orchestrated some very nasty things against McCain in 2000.
Karl Rove is coming to town."
So far this campaign season Western New York has had President Bush (in the late spring), last month it was Vice President Cheney, last week Laura Bush, and now Karl Rove.
On the one hand, it seems clear that they should have ousted Ney a long time ago. After all he admitted his corruption & crime before today.
On the other hand, this puts yet another corrupt Republican Congressman in the news close to election day.
"...cautioned that any claims made in e-mails by members of Team Abramoff should be taken with a grain of salt... "Statements from known liars inflating their minimal contacts with Mehlman in an effort to magnify their own profile should not be a surprise," Schmitt warned."
This must be at the top of the administration's talking points memo. Mehlman isn't the first to use this excuse.
Maybe it's time for disclaimers in tiny type at the bottom of ads.
Results not typcial. Miss Moore was paid for her participation. Her face has been surgically altered & possibly Photoshopped too.
