Let me get this straight...

We kicked someone out of the military who was training to be an Aribic translator because her English wasn't perfect?? Couldn't they invest a little more time and effort in such a rare skill?

Geez.

Original article: Nothing but nog

Huge fan

of eggnog. A lady whose husband works with mine usually makes homemade for their Christmas party. It's some incredible stuff. Lazy person that I am, I can do with Horizon (organic) lowfat eggnog. Not low fat in any normal sense, but is compared to the usual stuff. YUM!

Uh, Joe?

Tomlinson has been in the NFL for 6 years. Not exactly a "rookie".

Original article: Where's the outrage?

Outrage, sure

I'm outraged we're in this war. I've been outraged since, oh, December 2000. First the Supremes botch the election, then terrorists attack us, then our president lies to us and drags us to war. I'm outraged that so many Iraqi's have died due to our lack of planning.

But I don't know for sure, or even a little, if us leaving will make things better. It may make things worse....much worse. And in the end, my thought is "you broke it, you bought it".

HBO??

Anonymous,

Watch a few episodes of HBO's OZ. Trust me, they're definitely not scared of the nude male penis.

FDA and the Pill

I have to wonder at this new concern from the FDA. If I recall correctly, there are some in that agency (placed there specifically by our Prez) who don't believe that women should use ANY birth control, that it's all harmful. Call me cynical, but I can see this as a way to discredit the Pill.

Original article: Huckabee for America

Couldn't agree more, Arkie

Especially as I am one myself. Consider this: Just before he left office, Governor Huckabee ordered all the hard drives in all the PC's in his office smashed. FOI anyone? Hard to get info off a smashed drive.

Huck hasn't met a handout he doesn't like. The supporters who shuttled him around as gov are big fish for a small state, but not likely to make a big dent in the kizash needed to be Pres. He's also VERY thin-skinned. As long as you agree with him, he's the smiling, jovial guy you saw on Meet the Press. Disagree with him or challenge his platform and you get a very different man.

Nice quote

Maybe a little more of the context? From that, it sounds like "her friend" is ready to poison her. Geez.

Original article: A bull market for eggs

Bull market?

If I recall correctly, when egg harvesting was new, weren't eggs going as high as $50K? If anything, $5,000 is a severe bear market.

Not all colleges are alike

Mine (thankfully) didn't have any Greek experience save for a young man with a long name starting with K and ending with s. Some colleges don't have fraternities or sororities and I do not for one minute feel my college life was diminished because of it. True, I can't depend on Sister Kate to go ask her Daddy to give me a job. I do have to get out there and do it myself based on my own education, abilities and other such trivial things.

Geez. An exclusive organization excludes based on meaningless criteria. Who'd have thunk it?

Cookies evil? I don't think so

I have loved Girl Scout cookies for over 30 years and will continue to do so, even if they're found to contain heroin (which could explain my multi-decade addiction). They're only available for a short time, I don't eat THAT many and (again) they're really good. No one else sells anything like a Thin Mint and I'm glad for that.

Besides, if I ingest a very few trans fats, maybe my fertility will decline so much that I don't need the BC pills my "insurance" no longer pays for.

What if...?

If this vaccine had been available when I was 11 and I'd have known about it, I would have wanted it. Did I know what cervical cancer was at the time? No, but any kind of cancer is scary. The more I learn about cervical cancer (mostly through 20 years of screening), the more I know I don't want to get it. However, since I'm 35, married and have been sexually active for 20 years, this vaccine cannot protect me.

Maher's point is that you have to get the vaccine WELL BEFORE you even consider having sex or it's ineffective. And since many people (of all religion, political party, etc) can't fathom that THEIR pwecious daughter might have sexual thoughts until an advanced age, they're fighting this vaccine that might, you know, save said daughter's LIFE. 100 years ago, an unmarried 20 year old was an old maid. Weddings between 12-13 year olds were common. Obivously, the human animal thinks about sex at that age. I agree with Maher....GET REAL AND SAVE YOUR CHILD'S LIFE.

If the flu could hide in your body undetected for years and years, pop up one day, start growing out of control and kill you, people would trample the health dept for their flu shots. We already push flu shots for 6 months out of the year and it is rarely deadly. Why would we not want to protect women from something much more dangerous?

Hey Pablo.....

Huckabee is NOT from Alabama. He's from Arkansas. May not be much of a difference to you, but since it's part of the sub-headline, it should be easy to see. For anyone thinking there's not a difference, well Bill Clinton came from Arkansas. (And no, Huckabee is NOTHING like the *original* Man from Hope.)

It's not just MRI's....

That won't get paid for. My Dr recommended that I get a mammogram next year. I had one at 34, he wants me to have one at 37 and then again at 40. The insurance I had when I was 34 paid for them when recommended by a Dr, no matter your age. The insurance I have now won't pay for one until I'm 40, no matter what my doctor recommends or demands.

Yes, I'm welcome to pay for any treatment *I* deem necessary. But if I wanted to (or could afford) to pay for any treatment, why would I need insurance??
