I loved Christian, even the hairstyle grew on me. And in the finale when he told his plus size Mom he'd put her on the runway next time he really won me over. Contrast that to the insensitive Jeffrey from last season who denigrated Angela and her heavyset Mom when he had to design an outfit for her. He should have been kicked off on that episode and instead he won the whole show. I loved this season and am very happy with the results. The kid is a star!
Yeah how many are going to be willing to come out now after Clinton mopped the floor with him.
After Caucusing we came home to watch CNN and loved Hillary's speech. Then Obama came on and there was a part where he looked like he was crying during his speech. Why has no mention of this been made by the press? This just further proves to me that Obama does not have what it takes to win on an even playing field much less on the playing field the Repugs will put him on if he does manage to eek out the nomination.
When Bradley took on Gore in 2000 I felt it was wrong because Gore deserved to be the candidate and was politicaly hurt by all the bashing Bradley did. But this election is different because there is no presumptive Democratic Candidate. I was for Edwards and when he dropped out I was left with a big decision to make. I had already read Hillary's Book, Bill's Book and both Obama's books so I went to see both candidates at events and continued my obsesive reading of anything and everything political. I signed onto both candidates e-mail alerts. Everything I received from the Hillary camp has been positive and informative. The opposite is true of my experience with Obama. One of the first e-mails I received from his campaign was asking Obama supporters to go rally outside a Clinton event. Big Turn Off! Since then I have seen other dirty tricks from his campaign and I might be able to chalk them up to politics as usual if he was not running on a message of HOPE. He strikes me as a fake and a phony and someone that is doing this for EGO. Before this journey I was not a big Hillary fan. Now after carefull deliberation I proudly say that my spouse and I have early voted for her and plan to go caucus tonight. Go Hillary.
When I went to vote in Nov.1992 the ecomomy was in the toilet and the lines at the polls were really really long. People were actually shaking in their boots. I remember so clearly the lady in front of me saying she wanted to give Perot a chance but this election was too important so she was going for Bill Clinton. I feel like this year Barack is Perot and Hillary is Bill. And this election is just as important as 1992 was in getting our country back on track.
All I can really speak to is my own experience. On Wed. 2/20 I went to a Hillary rally. It was inside in a nice air conditioned arena. The 'ticket' to get in was a form you filled out with your personal information, like e-mail and phone number. The ralley started at 4:30 and we were entertained until Hillary arrived around 7. She gave a very good speech which was well recieved. The people there were all obvious serious Hillary supporters. Maybe Hillary is learning as she goes because it was an enjoyable well organized event.
On Fri. 2/22 I went to an Obama event or 'concert' as my husband called it. It was outside on a college campus. The gates opened around 9:30. There was a stage for him and bleachers for his politically connected supporters. There was a roped off area for the handicapped. Everyone else had to stand crushed together for hours in the broiling sun. It was so hot that people fainted. Barack did not come out to speak until after 12:30. There was no entertainment, and only right before he spoke did someone come out to introduce themselves and then Obama. There were students with clip boards but there was no organized effort to get people's info. After the event I found one of the clipboards disgarded on the ground with only one page filled out. I turned it over to his staff. If you were lucky enough to be up close you could give your book to a staffer and Obama signed them afterwards and the staffer returned them to us after an hour. That was a nice touch and I was happy to have my book signed because I think he is a very good writer.
I went to both rallys because I had not made my mind up who to vote for yet. Maybe all the hype about Obama left me a little dissapointed or feeling cheated like I had been lied too. I did not feel that he lived up to his hype at all. The fainting was from the heat, the speech was pedestrian and when he tried to whip up the young crowd the response was very mundane. He asked who was going to vote and only about half the crowd raised their hands. No one in the crowd seemed to know the Fired up, Ready to go line except me. Yet here is another Salon article that gives the opposite impression of what I observed on the ground. I know you can't trust the media but when you have a candidate you want to trust and believe in and he is going along with the lies and distortions told about him because he wants to win at any cost it seems very unDemocratic. I wish my original choice, John Edwards, had not been booted from the race so early so I could have felt better about my vote.
