I HAVE CAREFULLY READ EACH OF THE LETTERS SELECTED BY THE EDITORS, LACKING THE STOMACH TO PERUSE THE TOTAL BOMBAST. THE ONLY POSSIBLE CONCLUSION IS THAT EITHER YOUR SELECTED READERS, OR THE EDITORS, OR BOTH, ARE POLITICAL MORONS. THE SLOGANEERING IS REMINISCENT OF YOUR INTELLECTUAL FORBEARS WHO PROCLAIMED THAT HITLER AND STALIN DID NOT THREATEN US. WHILE THE WAR IN IRAQ IS UNPOPULAR, THE MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE NOT READY TO SURRENDER TO TERRORISTS. PLEASE AIR YOUR CAPITULATIONIST VIEWS TO THE ENTIRE ELECTORATE, THIS WILL HELP ELECT A PRESIDENT WHO UNDERSTANDS THE IMPERATIVES OF NATIONAL SECURITY.
Our country was attacked by 19 Arabs on 9/11, causing vast carnage. Unlike the Clinton adminstration--which reacted with diffidence and fake attacks in response to bombings of embassies in Africa and the USS Cole--Bush attacked the perpetrators with zeal. Governmental zeal must be scrutinized. It was inevitable that in a war against shadowy murderers, mistakes would be made. The alternative was to accept, like Clinton, endless condolences. Most Americans, at least initially, preferred zealous response, as evidenced in the 2004 elections. If Ms.Malek does not understand that--unlike Syria--we have independent judicial and legislative branches, reviewing courts and the opportunity to vote the government out of office, she is not qualified to acts as a journalist or lawyer. Could her rant have been published in Syria? The ridicule of the President's name shows a lot about the mental level of many progressives. Nulla is onto something: do the Malek supporters criticize judicial repression in Cuba?
Since the resurgent McCain is one of the few candidates in either party with genuine national-security credentials, it was to be expected that Salon would try a hatchet job. But the bottom-line analysis is fairly simple. If you prefer that Saddam were still in power, you should vote against McCain. If you prefer that the U.S. surrender immediately, vote Democrat. McCain survived the Hanoi Hilton and the smearings of Jane Fonda, he will survive Generalissimo Benjamin's kvetching. The solid center of the American electorate which care about our national security does not read Salon.
Your fear of impending defeat in the general election is discernible, Professor Cole. Liberals have spared no effort to trash the Republicans (vide the NYTimes recent fiasco re McCain's "affair"); the feral shouts for CHANGE have been trumpeted as the most profound political wisdom since John Locke. But a solid center of the American people appears to be recognizing that national security is the over-riding issue on which Democrats can not be trusted and that surrender in Iraq is not a viable program. Yale, my providential alma mater, astutely recognized that Cole's leftist cheerleading should not be confused with real scholarship. As for the straw divine, Dr. Hagee, I do not have to agree with every foolish thing he says, any more than Obama has to agree with everything his personal divine says. But I do know that Hagee loves America and loves Israel and hates the terrorists, which gives him quite an edge over Rev. Taylor. Finally, ponder Truman's approval rating in 1952 with his subsequent place in history, and compare Congress's approval rating with the President's so you understand why the Dems--mercifully--are again delivering the White House to the GOP.
That such puerile twittery paases as political journalism--to the war whoops of your mindless kneejerk readers--exposes the Left's desparate debasement. Poor Ms. A, confusing repetition with cleverness, opines that "All conservatives are stupkd." She is unaware that most great ideas are coming from Right Field because she has never read, inter alia, Von Hayek, M. Friedman, Posner, E. Rostow, Thatcher, etc. Steinberg has spent so much time roaming the Big House that he can not pry his mind from the gutter. He is entitled to prefer the high moral standards of Dem leaders like Bill Clinton, John Edwards, Kwame Kirkpatrick, Tony Rezko and Eliot Spitzer. In adjacent column (I read Salon like the Talmud(, the indefatigable ideologue Greenwald monomaniacally rails at GOP "brutal peronality and cultural attacks." What gross chuytzpah. Has he read Steinberg? All of this reveals why the GOP is marching to victory in the real America!
Are you suggesting Palin is as mean as Obama who opportunistically jettisoned the Comrades who gave him his start, e.g.Wm Ayers, the bomber "just a guy in my neighborhood" who regrets he didn't kill more AMERICANS, Rev Wright who damns America + the mysterious Michael Klonsky who disappeared from campaign website + Adviser Samantha Power who hates America when we defend ourselves.
Of course, anyone who disagrees with the Maximum Leader must be purged. Perhaps you could also get Lieberman to confess. Are the Obamanites beginning to show their true faces?
I AM WAITING FOR PROFESSOR JUAN COLE TO TELL US WHY THE MUMBAI ATTACKS ARE JUSTIFIED.
Traister presents a stunning exposure of liberal arrogance, as she stomps on a nervous teen for not being as articulate as, say, Joe(foot in mouth)Biden. Is her epithet "redneck" less racist than "nigger"? It is clear that what motivated Traister to serial defamation is her presumption that it is verboten for a working class Mom to oppose an anointed candidate.Liberals are having their day,but such superciliosness toward ordinary Americans in the long run will do in the Traister trashers.
Leave it to NY Times and Salon to whitewash Muslim beheadings. Tell me, did the beheading of Danny Pearl also have nada to do with Islam? Perhaps the ACLU will argue that beheading is constitutionally protected religious expression?
