  • @jamessb -- Obama's scandals

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton makes her stand in Ohio]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You make a valid point about "Obama's Scandals." The point is Obama has scandals, despite Obama's representations to the contrary. I bet if you were a fly on the wall in the Obama house a couple years ago, you would have heard Michelle tell Obama she didnt think the Rezko deal was a good idea.

Obama is playing more campaign games than any candidate and he is feeding on a gullible public that wants to believe. His campaign was not about a "movement", that was just a facade to suck in those that wanted something to believe in. A stellar marketing campaign. His campaign has employed calculated attempts to misinform the voters on issues, himself and policy implications. In past posts, I likened his comments to someone trying to win "Survivor." Only, this is about winning a $500,000 prize, but about millions and millions of Americans.

Everyone in politics (or public figures of any sort) have all been accused of something. Obama was supposed to be different and transparent. The reporters on the trail know he is reserved and there is nothing transparent, especially when there are pointed questions from Chicago Sun and Chicago Tribune reporters that they would like asked. Obama can end all the speculation by bringing transparency back to his campaign.

Y'all know the Canadian dollar is valued higher than the U.S. Dollar. Many of you may remember how great it used to be to go to Windsor or Niagara where your dollar went further. Pound is nearly 2 to 1 and Euro 1.5 to 1. Everyone needs to get to the real messages which sadly to say includes what I call -- Deja Vu! its the economy, again.

  • Joint ticket

[Read the article: Who would the GOP rather face?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If Hillary wins the nomination, she will probably offer Obama the VP slot. If he declines, then Hillary should(probably will) call upon Wesley Clark. Either way, Republicans will have a problem. . . Hillary/Obama ticket will be a force never seen -- rallying large demographics to the polls in numbers we have not seen before. I would venture a guess that there are less women haters and racists than there are women who want a woman leader, young people that like Obama's spirit(Bill Clintonesque appeal to rally youth), minorities brown and black that once again see hope in the Democratic party; etc. . .This could be the election that brings Democrats back to their roots -- in a way Kerry could never have related to when he ran and went for his fancy sailing photo ops.

If Obama wins the nomination, given his need for the spotlight it seems doubtful he will call upon Hillary as his VP candidate and I just wonder if there is anyone else he can call upon for the ticket that will balance him enough to keep the enthusiasm and fight against the Republican machine. However, since the VP is more of a fundraiser than policy guru -- it is a position that Obama is ideally suited to takeover. By November, blue lights and Change the world will be ikons of the past . . . the Obama campaign has already had a couple weeks of figuring out what side is up.

By November, whomever are the candidates -- they will have to be talking about real issues and the issue that wins won't be Iraq. It will be the economy. It is downright depressing to leave the country and realize how little the U.S. Dollar buys today in Canada or the EU.

  • John Edwards is no Edwin Edwards

[Read the article: What's next for Edwards?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Repeat Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards who was riddled with scandal once stated (despite all kinds of scandal) "The only way I can lose is if I'm caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy." He was reelected despite his miscomings. Unfortunately, he is currently in jail - - the U.S. attorney was finally able to get some charges to stick. My hopes are that there is not some scandal that arises with Obama that was previously dismissed only for the National Enquirer or Star to drop a bomb at an unfortunate time. I think Obama needs to evaluate Edwards' candid comments on the effect of campaigning.

I always had an unease with Edwards -- a sick wife with young children. It always seemed to me with his financial security, it would be a good time to be with the children and Elizabeth. But, I also understood Elizabeth using the campaign as a platform which may not have been as strong absent a campaign. I highly doubt Ms. Hunter was the first. . . Keep in mind when Edwards toured Michigan with Obama, Elizabeth was still supporting Hillary's Health Care Plan. Writing on the wall? What should be a slam dunk for the Dems is becoming more of a contest day by day? It is sad. I am waiting for Obama to disown, denounce and repudiate yet another high profile surrogate.

People can try to spin this as a negative for McCain, but that is a weak retort. . .McCain and his wife have been married for years, and he has stuck with her through her ups and downs and vice versa. McCain can easily spin such attacks on his life story as a story of resilency. It is like insuinuating he is a racist, which is simply an insult to McCain, his daughter and family. Yes, that ploy worked once, but the next guy sees the low blows coming. . .

As you can see, I am on the fence. . .Some days it is Obama (primarily based on the issue of judicial appointments) and other days it is McCain (because I get a sense that maybe he will go back to his Maverick ways after toeing the line with Bush for a while. . .)
