Let's Leave Hillary Out Of This

If we are going to put a man up as nominee, he has to be able to beat a 70 plus year old opponent in bowling. Period.

Whatever

But if we get bowling on the next bin Laden video, we have to cut our losses.

Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voters

Their empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows

And a parade of the gray suited grafters

A choice of cancer or polio.

Timing?

He's moved quickly to reassure the Indiana bowling constituency, which makes up half or more of the population.

The Problem Is

That after the first gutter ball, he didn't just smile and let it go at that. He never should have intended a full game, with video cameras on sight, that he knew he had no experience in. But he plodded forward a ways and then quit.

Last Night

They put up the current hypotheticals from polling in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida between Hillary and McCain and Obama and McCain. To put it mildy, at least right now, Obama looks like he is going to be a gigantic roll of the dice.

Well

Take a look at the current hypotheticals in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida between Hillary and McCain and Obama and McCain....Maybe Obama and his supporters are at ease, but I'm not.

Thursday, April 3, 2008 05:56 AM

Whoever Said It

Or didn't say it--after reviewing the up to date hypotheticals between Hillary and McCain and Obama and McCain in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida--there seems to be some substance to it.

Thursday, April 3, 2008 06:01 AM

Although It's A Ways Off

There does seem to be one thing fairly certain right now. Obama loses Florida, Hillary would have a real shot.

I Think As Far As We Can Safely Go

Is that if the other team makes a run after a timeout it was wrong to call it, and if your team makes a run after calling a timeout it was correct. If the score is 6-6 for a couple-three minutes after the timeout it didn't matter. Of course all evaluations are after the fact.

I'm Picturing

The blob on the couch watching. Davidson calls the timeout and he stands and screams--SHIT, That's it. We had them--and he turns the TV off.

Thursday, April 3, 2008 06:26 AM

I Think This Is Much More Common

Than advertised. Many of the influential people going to Obama are doing so on the grounds that the important minority constituency cannot be angered for futuristic considerations. This is what we got, this is where we are, so we just have to go with it now in the general and hope our asses off.

It's a reasonable position to take.

Mine too. I'm opposed to removal of posts for any reason. But I don't own Salon or make the rules. If off topic banter gets excessive it may happen, maybe even depending on the mood of the thread author at that moment. That's the way it is.

It Has To Be At Least Conceivable

That you call a timeout, come back out and get outscored 12-0, but it was the right thing to do.

I'm still hoping to vote for both of them on one ticket, either one for the top slot.

I've Noticed The UCLA Coach

They play that suffocating defense, a stetch of 6 or 7 possessions for each team, UCLA makes a regular and a three-ball and outscores them 5-0 for the 3 or 4 minute stretch then he calls a timeout after the 3 pointer and sends the opposition over to the bench to stew on that for a couple minutes. You can see the frustration mount.

You Can Count On Two Things From Conservatives

1.) Huge doses of moral preaching and judging

2.) And their wallet considerations taking center stage simultaneously.

I wouldn't have dropped and broke my glass water bong after a monster hit last weekend. Didn't even have any papers on back-up. Had to do the empty-and-fill-a-cigarette routine to proceed.
