One of the defensive guys came up and reached in and it became one of those tug of wars. I pulled it loose and lost my balance. The ref called a foul on the guy. He said "How about traveling." The ref said "How about a technical?" (refs in those leagues are insufferable pricks and there's about 6 technicals per game). I had 4 shots. The bonus plus they let me shoot the techs. Made all 4.

Usually what happens at the very end of the game is offered up as evidence. One team hits a 3 at the buzzer. The other team may have had some dude who hasn't shot a 3 all year fire one in as the shot clock expires out of desperation midway through the first quarter. Or other such examples from earlier in the game.

But they ended up barely winning so it must have been as close as the score indicated, much closer than the score indicated when they were down 8. So one or two shots going in can determine if it was as close as the score indicated.
