The End

Is liable to be the party wishing it had nominated Hillary.

I Didn't Realize I Was So Powerful

I'm humbled.

There's Also The Little matter Of V.P.

From my observations of the Obama people around here, if it had gone to the convention with each side having 1500 plus delegates with Hillary in the lead and she didn't offer Obama the V.P. his flock would have had a heart attack and bolted the general.

The Flaw

Is caucuses, where most voters are not really into going to some place, debate, argue, talk and then vote and depending on results re-vote and reargue and spending a few hours at the bullshit. So whatever candidate can get a small posse of yahoos to show up and do that at each site gets a bunch of delegates. Based on a tiny percentage of the population and electorate.

I'd Say The System To Have

Is on one day have all 50 states have regular primaries, winner take all delegates from each state and add them up.

The Overall Delegate Count

Is very close.............In caucus states Obama is up about 2-1 in delegates awarded.

All I Know

Is Obama and wife better start being careful about words. When you are preaching hope it's easy to be lulled in to a sense that whatever the hell you say will be uplifting and will pass with flying colors. This comment from his wife about being really proud of America for the first time, regardless of context or intent, is the kind of thing the republicans will use to paint them as black radicals. McCain was already whomping on it in his speech last night with a segment about all his pride in America. Repeating "proud."

My Impression Of The Obama People

Or many of them, is that they have a glass jaw. Hopefully the candidate does not.

We're going to be watching some of these Obama supporters have heart attacks born of outrage around here over the next few months. Maybe they will gain some empathy for what the Clintons have dealt with all these years.

They're Gonna Paint Obama And His Wife

As black radicals. That's gonna play well in many circles.

If Obama Wins The Presidency

I still rate Hillary as over 50-50 to be the democratic nominee in 2012.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:07 AM

If Obama Wins

Then everyone finds out that he can't pull out of Iraq. Then the entire house of hope and change collapses.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:19 AM

rufus

If Obama is our nominee I'll fight on his behalf. But as I have confessed before, my politics are pretty juvenile these days. I root for the ultimate wing-nut nightmare, which is Hillary. But a Movin' On Up Black man with uppity black wife is a nightmare for them too.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:36 AM

Qualifier

My support for an Obama candidacy in the general has one stipulation. If he is the nominee he has to offer the V.P. slot to Hillary. This can happen in any way. He can offer it to her but tell her he'd prefer she not take it, or he can offer it to her sincerely and she may decline. But he has to offer. Or I sit this one out.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:42 AM

Glenn

If no one has 2025 and they both have 1,500 plus, I'd say the offer is in order.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:49 AM

Filthy

If it was reversed and Hillary was the nominee, both with a ton of delegates, I would insist it be offered to him.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:56 AM

Absolutely Not

Just when it's so damn close. There's still a chance that some of the forces of the runner-up, likely Hillary now in this case, could end up not on board. So you make every effort to soothe egos. Like I said, just offer it. That doesn't mean it's gonna happen.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:59 AM

Kitt

If Hillary did not offer to him would I sit it out?........Let me go fifth amendment on that one.

"A Bi-Racial Liberal"?

If you track humanity back a ways, we are all multi-racial.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 12:03 PM

Paul

There you go.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 12:06 PM

Of Course

If it was Obama and Hillary and he was assassinated, the wing-nuts would have a story that put the LBJ, Ruby, Oswald stuff to shame.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 12:24 PM

It Doesn't Matter

What she really said, or what she intended. The first 30 seconds of round one go to McCain. In his speech last night he spoke of his lengthy and boundless pride in America.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 12:42 PM

Elephantman

Well, if the next two Supremes are appointed by the far left that makes the last 4 appointments taken as a whole, to be in the center or bi-partisan or whatever you want to call it.

I wouldn't go that far. Let's see how big race still is in America. The republicans will exploit it for sure. Not only is he black, he's not very hostile to all those damn Mexicans.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 01:07 PM

Just That

Being black and not pandering to anti-immigrants, will get McCain a decent slice of the electoral college pie.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 01:18 PM

Before It's Over

He's not only going to be black, he's going to be Stokely Carmichael.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 01:57 PM

Give Me Time

I'm starting to see the beauty of an Obama candidacy......The republicans can overplay their hand going after him and destroy whatever inroads they ever hoped to make in black America, while they are simultaneously pissing off the Latinos for all-time with talk of walls and such. And the working class whites fed up with the philosophy of tax-cuts at the top, during war and recession.

It could be that eventually their only hope would literally be a coup. With their tiny constituency hold-up in guarded country clubs.

"Don't announce your intentions?"

If true, the Bush family needs military instruction. Bush the first gave a specific "or else" date to Iraq to leave Kuwait. Bush the second gave Saddam and sons "48 hours". And the surge dates were announced up front.

Thursday, February 21, 2008 06:51 AM

Saddam

Had 48 hours to leave Iraq. McCain is giving us 100 years.

For what It's worth, when it says that the meek shall inherit the earth. Well, I heard that some sheik just bought New Jersey last week, and you suckers ain't gettin' nothin'.

I suspect it's going to be something dumping on Hillary...........I could snap.
