And For That Matter

Some of the shows that have already dealt with this the last few nights, probably have had an audience that rivals or surpasses last year's World Series.

FOX

Has been hysterical about the BetrayUs ad. They just won't let it go. They are already in full GOP campaign mode. They act like they've found a critical momentum turner a few weeks before the election to hammer on, but the election is 14 months out.

I'm Enjoying

The clips they are now re-running from the murder trial. The best one is O.J. trying the gloves on in front of the jury. Look real close at his body language and facial expressions--it's like "Good Lord, I must not have done it. I really am innocent"......He's way out there for sure. Probably more so now.

Oh C'mon

For Christ's sake. If the republicans freak out over a newspaper ad, how the hell are they going to defeat "the terrorists."

Wednesday, September 19, 2007 09:43 AM

This Nonsense

Of the right wing calling for prominent democrats to condemn the ad is to be rejected. Like we as liberals have to answer for something in the docket.

Here's the answer---My respect, devotion, and absolutism for the first amendment equals you nuts respect, devotion, and absolutism for the 2nd.

And One More Thing

Right wing----Please dislodge your tongue from the military's rectum. Your breath is starting to stink.

I can't recall ever seeing one of your pieces in HUSTLER. Tis a pity.

It's Not A Dem Congress tangerine

The President is a republican. His approval rating is bad for republicans.

The Congress is republicans and democrats. And there are twice as many republican senators up in 2008 as dems.

So, again, low approval is bad for republicans.

Wednesday, September 19, 2007 10:41 AM

tangerine

Understood here too........I think many democratic voters are fed up with timidity. But the republicans are up crap creek regardless. Virginia with a strong possibility going all blue in the Senate? That Southern block starts cracking and it's check-mate for a long time. The GOP smells it, they are promoting crap like loser gets some of the electoral college votes in California.

The Column

Was about O.J. and the NHL...So it wasn't about sports either.

But Back To Sports

Just following this O.J. story without investing much interest or time, I can't believe the IRS hasn't latched on big-time to these sports memorabliaautograph signing shows. One of Simpson's former buddies was on last night saying they are absolute free-for-alls.

Hell who knows, maybe the feds can monitor and come up with an extra half billion in taxes to pay for Iraq for a couple days.

Then Again

Most of the sports fan base and media is white.

If you had a multi-act hip-hop concert with a mostly black audience, they may be more critical of the white rapper and he would have to exceed to be accepted, complimented, or granted equal status to the black rapper.

The Amusing Thing

Is that it's obvious if we follow the tree back to the start of humanity, whatever that was, we must all have a whole bunch of the same elements. Bits and pieces of everything in us all.

Tens of thousands of years of evolution has produced a creature in denial, often violent denial, of that fact.

O.J. Update

I hit the up arrow on the channel changer a few times and stumbled across this last evening-----In the flight back to Florida after bail O.J. was in seat 6-D.

I'm sorry. I don't care how much the pay or if I was dismissed. If I was a news anchor I would refuse to read that.

I Tried To Be Fair

With the NHL. I informed them that they could be a sport, as long as they didn't strike. While strikes are irritating in the other sports, it's not a disqualifier. Maybe that's prejudice, I don't know. But they were warned and they struck. Now they're not a sport.

The fair approach would be to legalize gay marriage. Then track gay and straight divorce statistics. After 10 years whichever was higher becomes illegal.

Someone

Mentioned Limbaugh's tirade about McNabb which prompted his resignation from ESPN (well, resign or you're fired if that's resigning). What was it, the bloated prick's second weekend on the job. Sorry Rush, back to rabble-rousing frustrated kooks on the radio where you belong.

Anyhow in his frantic defense he identified the media as the culprit. He was talking about the media, not McNabb or black quarterbacks. Not only that, the media misinterpreted his comments to the public.

This has become the default position of the right, from politics to sports. Larry Craig is blaming an Idaho newspaper as responsible for his guilty plea. You do or say whatever you want, no matter how preposterous, and when no rational outs remain----THE MEDIA.

Anony 11:58

You may be getting a bit overbearing in over-analyzing why someone saw the light. May be best to just give thanks they saw it.

I think you'll find with the right wing, until something smacks them or their wallet directly in the kisser, the light will be blocked. And many times even then remains blocked.

Well

McNabb's been to one Super Bowl that was close. Marino made one that was a rout.
