I had just never seen this aspect addressed by the jihad wing of the republican party. How about a gay marrying a member of the opposite sex for convenience, expedience, or personal circumstances? Are they opposed to just the gay sex, or are they just generally against the gay person.
On occasion I enjoy going back and contemplating the box score of the Cleveland Browns re-entry into the NFL in 1999, in their opener against the Steelers. It alleviates stress and tension.
FIRST DOWNS--Steelers 32 Browns 2
PLAYS FROM SCRIMMAGE--Steelers 88 Browns 28
RUSHING YARDAGE--Steelers 213 Browns 9
PASSING--Steelers 24-32-247-3td-Oint Browns 6-16-31-0td-2int
TOTAL YARDAGE--Steelers 460 Browns 40
FUMBLES-LOST--Steelers 0-0 Browns 2-2
TIME OF POSSESSION--Steelers 47:49 Browns 12:11
And another exibit from the stupid, spoiled fans file.
The Cardinals rather miraculously worked themselves back in to the Central race. Due to a whole host of reasons from free agent losses to injuries and aging, St. Louis has fielded their weakest team in quite some time. They have pretty much had a division dynasty in this new century, and for most of this period have pulverized the lesser teams like the Pirates--although not every game, even when there was a huge gap between the two. Somehow this means one thing to a substantial portion of their fan base--They should cream the Pirates game in and game out until doomsday.
The Cards, on a hot streak, began a 4 game set with Pittsburgh at Busch and it appears they have one battalion of fans that had chalked that up as 4 wins before the fact. They have lost 2 of the first 3, and the blogs-radios are teeming with frustration.
I give you this gem--"The Cardinals should beat the Pirates every time they play them."
Here we have a wannabe coach/wannabe player. A know-it-all that breaks down every game and devotes the better part of his life to following sports. He goes to the games and pontificates to his entire section all game long. He blogs and calls the talk shows. One of his primary expenses after rent or mortgage is beer and food at sportsbars. He has magazine subscriptions and a library of almanacs. He's the owner/coach of multiple teams in fantasy leagues.
And here we have someone with no comprehension of the sport. None. He's demanding to beat someone else every single time, regardless of year to year circumstances and as the overall parity increases at all levels. In Ann Arbor they feel the same way about Illinois and Indiana and Northwestern and Purdue, not to mention Appy St. Hell, a bunch of 'em think they should beat Ohio St. every time. And vice-versa in Columbus. The narcissism peaks out when they insist that their post-loss anger be quenched by dismissal of the coach or benching/cutting/trading players.
They are everywhere in large numbers and there is no cure, short of lethal injection. Which I am not officially requesting or advising, just day-dreaming and tossing a penny in the wishing well.
Is the media eggs them on. Just in this one college football pre-season, channel surfing, I have seen over and over again some goofball sitting on his fat ass in a TV studio, getting paid handsomely, saying this team or that team has no problems until game 7 or 8. Just counting 2 months of games as given wins. For more than several teams.
We went through 4 weeks of loud-mouthed debate about the possibility of Louisville in the title game. With the hammer coming down 95 percent to 5 media and fans, that Louisville was undeserving, was a question mark, and why risk an over-rated upstart being blown out in the title game...........When we've had recent title games with the Oklahomas, Ohio States, Floridas, Nebraskas, Southern Cals, and Miami Floridas and scores like 62-24, 55-17, 41-14, and 40-13.
Would I butt heads with Thrasher? His consistent position is that this country generally, and in sports specifically, is still largely racist to one degree or another.
He's absolutely right about that.
As to your other charges swilldog, I can only say that I have for the most part graduated beyond predictions and pre-season analysis. I feel that any response I give would be hollow and forced. That stuff everybody is sometimes right and sometimes wrong, without much variance in the amount of right versus wrong per person. With wrong the heavy favorite.
I am now boldly venturing out into the vast tundra of the American sportsfan mind and psychology, which now surpasses American religious psychology in both depth and intensity of nonsense, which is saying something.
I've been considering my own blog, but I already sent my money order in to become premium.
I was looking forward to Craig's next Senate race. I assume the potato-heads in Idaho are going to elect a republican no matter what. And with the ammunition that some other holier-than-thou prospective republican candidate now has against Larry, his troops would have to dig hard and deep looking for shit about that other guy. No tellin' what they might find.
Towards some GOP lawmaker or candidate showing up at the house on that TO CATCH A PREDATOR series.
Craig's actions, while leaving a lot to be desired, don't rise to the level of, say, Oxycontin addiction.
I wonder if Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, and Alito have received their phone calls yet?
Republican Appointment away from district judges being the butt of jokes in the GOP backroom conferences------"A district judge/court ruled what? HA HA. We'll see about that. I lay 5-4 odds it doesn't stand."
